So BOINC will not give an adequate time estimate! If ServicEnginIC estimates that his GTX 1050ti will finish this WU in about 3 days and 9 hours, there is a high chance that your GPU will finish in this time frame as well! BOINC needs about 10 complete WUs until it will estimate times correctly! Do not abort! |

Posted 7 May 2021 by klepel Post: just had my first two successful completions. doesn't look like it ran any GPU work though, the GPU was never loaded. just unpacked the WU, ran the setup. then exited. marked as complete with no error. only ran for about 45 seconds. Did you have to up-date conda for the two successful tasks? I received a few new WUs but all errored. I will not have access to this computer until tomorrow. |

Posted 23 Feb 2021 by klepel Post: I have a GTX 1650 S with a “problem”. The computer (AMD 2600 on an AMD 450 motherboard), where the card was installed, did not start after it ran for several months without switching the computer off/on. I tried to troubleshoot the computer and came to the conclusion, that it would be the motherboard. Thankfully my computer technician got the computer working again with another GPU. In the meanwhile, as I assumed it was a defective motherboard, I tried the GPU on several other computers, always with the same or similar result: 1st computer: After I installed GPU and started the computer, the ventilator on the GPU spun (I can`t remember if I had an image on the monitor). After one or two restarts, the ventilator stopped to spin. I installed the old and working GPU, ventilator spun, but no image. Could not get it to work again. 2nd computer: After I installed the GPU on this computer http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=523675 in the second slot, computer started and second card got recognized and BOINC downloaded a second WU for the GPU. However GPU crashed several times and after some crashes I noted that the second GPU was not recognized anymore and ventilator stopped to spin . I tried several times, always with the same result. 3rd computer: After I installed GPU and started the computer, the ventilator on the GPU spun (I can`t remember if I had an image on the monitor). After one or two restarts, the ventilator stopped to spin. I installed the old and working GPU, ventilator spun, but no image. Thankfully my computer technician got the computer working again with the old GPU. So I am hesitating to try this particular GPU in a fourth computer… but as there is GPU shortage, I am wondering, what it might be and what to check? After the second COVID-lockdown, I might be able to electronic workshop – in Peru there are some repairing GPUs, motherboards etc. |

Try to remove the old drivers with DDU from safe mode, be sure to select the option in the settings to prevent Windows from automatically installing drivers. Then go to nvidia’s website and download the latest drivers for your system, selecting custom install and clean install during the install process. It is a Linux Box... I switched already back to Nouveau driver. Restarted - no image… luckily I was able to restart with GRUB (recovery mode). After that I was able to install latest Nvidia Driver again. Hope this will solve the problem! |

The other Linux computer does work flawlessly. And the other two Windows 10 computers do not produces ERRORs either. |

ADRIA extremely slow - not checkpointing

This computer with a GTX2070 http://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=32508594 Produced an ERROR: Detected memory leaks! Anybody has an idea, what the cause might be? I moved this GPU from my Linux Computer –never had a problem with the card - to the game computer of my child - other projects just run fine, plays “Fortnite” on it once or twice a day and we switch it off at night. On the Linux Computer http://www.gpugrid.net/results.php?hostid=523675 received the GTX1660ti from the gaming computer, and produced two ERRORs until now. The cards are factory overclocked – just a side question how to undervolted a GPU? |

Question for new gtx / rtx

Posted 27 May 2020 by klepel Post: I would always recommend the newest generation of video cards. I run a run GTX1650, GTX1650 SUPER, GTX1660 TI and a RTX2070, beside some older cards. For budget consideration I would recommend the GTX1650 SUPER, it is much faster as the GTX1650 (only 10 USD more expensive), GTX 1660TI is faster but I hesitate to recommend it for the 120 USD extra. If budget is no consideration or “real-time ray tracing” is your preference, RTX are faster still. And the price difference from a GTX1660TI to a RTX2060 is slim, so it might be an option. |

(This method is from Rosetta, they made the same change lately) P.S. Is there a timeline, when new work will arrive? |

There is now reason to write in bold and big letters, we all try to help to solve problems! Question: How is you priority set for GPUGRID? Might it be, that it is lower than priorities on your CPU projects? In my expirience BOINC gets confused sometimes when the priority for GPU work is lower than CPU work and does not download GPU WUs. GPUGRID works best with a short workbuffer, I get the next WU about 30 minutes before the last ends. And yes! GPUGRID needs shortest turn-around times possible, so you are asked not to bunker WUs, therefore the number of GPUGRID is limited to 2 per GPU at any given time. |

And I have the same problem you describe: Suddenly this month it seems like something is making my system overheat if I enable the GPU tasks. My system is AMD 1700x and a GTX1070. I tried to resolve the problem by lowering clocks on the CPU since the beginning. What seems to help, is lowering the frequency of the GPU by 120 MHz and increase the fan speed to 97% on this particular GPU. But still the computer freezes frequently. Lately I was wondering if it might be the PSU as well, as I had a "bluescreen" problem on another computer, I solved with a certified, higher Watt PSU a few years ago. So it seems to me, that this might be a bad PSU design for 24/7 crunching. |

Congratulation for your personal success so you are able to buy so many GPUs and maintain them crunching for all the years to come! You have already solved the 'bunkering' problem but if you want to improve the supply of WU to us volunteers it is very very simple. Just follow Primegrid's lead and remove GPUgrid from the projects white-listed by GridCoin. As I understand for the project team it is better to get the results sooner than later, so they are able to analyze and investigate them and issue new WUs if needed, rather than to wait for a few happy crunchers to crunch them for a long time (as might be the case with primegrid – just as you mentioned them), so they have an interest to have the biggest pool of Nvidia GPUs as possible at their disposal! I never read, BOINC guaranties an un-interrupted work supply, so the volunteers will have always work to crunch. Keep it to unpaid volunteers PAID?! Where is this paid “volunteer”? Just as an example, I spend about USD 300.00 on electric bills per month just for BOINC, beside all the hardware I buy for BOINC - I would not buy, if I would not be an addict. I earn about USD 9.00 equivalent of Gridcoins per month, so I would rather see it as a very small subsidy at best, or just another dope to keep me crunching BOINC! |

His CPUs are Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz and Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz, mine are two AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processors. Might it be that the Wrapper is slower on slower CPUs and therefore slows down the GPUs? Is this the experience from other users as well? |
