So I'm trying to update my profile as my picture on there is about 10 years old and I want to change some stuff but the recaptcha is no longer valid and so it won't allow any changes. Who handles updating the site or can I volunteer some time to make some updates?

Had it happen again, thought it might be the updated drivers. Noooo. I did some digging and it turns out that my remote desktop services (which I don't use, I use other remote desktop programs) got switched to manual, so it seemed like the remote desktop feature was actually in use when it wasn't. I disabled the service, restarted BOINC and wa-la! it works. Just in case anybody else runs into this issue. My current remote software does not cause any conflicts.

Ok, uninstalled everything that was even remotely a remote desktop program.
Same issue...

Uninstalled (with recommended driver uninstaller, thank you for that, awesome tool) video driver and reinstalled.
Same issue...

Was really considering doing a system refresh, but then had a thought.

Uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC.
Worked like a charm. It didn't lose any of the current jobs and fixed the issue. So BOINC was broken somehow.

Thanks for the replies!

Ok, so I rebooted and did not connect remotely and my jobs still won't run. I'll try cleaning up the driver.

I noticed that my GPUGrid task isn't running, even though it's about 90% done. It just says waiting to run. I look at my messages and it says no usable GPU's.
Are you using remote desktop to access your PC? (it disconnects the GPU from the console, thus from the apps running under that user account)
Are there any other users logged on to this PC? (same effect as the remote desktop)
Have you installed BOINC in "protected execution mode" aka system service? (system services can't access the GPU)

So it seems it might be the remoting in, but that's strange because it's never been an issue before. I'll see if the software updated itself and then see if I can roll it back.

I do connect remotely, but the program I use doesn't disconnect the GPU. I've been using my remote software for over 2 years now with no issues. This was recent. It doesn't specify why it stopped. My BOINC has been running the same way for over a year. There have been no changes to the system (that I'm aware of and I tend to stay on top of these things) that should cause any issues. I'll take a look at the driver uninstaller.

I've got my handy-dandy GTX 970 that has crunched for ages. Some of you may recall that my prior one blew up a few months ago. http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4332 So anyways, just recently, I noticed that my GPUGrid task isn't running, even though it's about 90% done. It just says waiting to run. I look at my messages and it says no usable GPU's. I'm not running anything using the GPU in the background, so I'm confused why it's doing this. Any suggestions?

For the last week or so, none of my work is showing up on BoincStats for GPUGrid. I'm getting credit for my other projects, but not GPUGrid. What can I do to fix this? For example, Bstats says I have 82,184,499.76 GPUGrid credits but GPUGrid says I have 85,158,587. Any advice?

I was really lazy about shipping this card in. Got my RMA installed day before yesterday. Going to be looking over the OC settings and maybe try getting my hands on a surface thermometer and see what that spot is hitting in temps. If this one burns out the same way, I'm still covered under warranty and then, with any luck, if they're out of that card maybe they'll give me a GTX 1070 or something. I'm not really one for getting my cards this way, but it shouldn't burn out like that either. If it was a badly designed card and can't run for at least the full year, then I'm better off with a different model anyway. Let's see how it goes. Gotta get my crunching rolling again. :)

No, just an Acer 27" monitor. Nothing special. I think it's just a cheaper design, since these are sold specifically to Best Buy. I'm hoping they'll send me a better model for a replacement. If they send me another of the same one then I'll simply wait and see if it burns out as well. I may disable any stock overclock it has, but that remains to be seen.

I should also note that this particular version of the EVGA GTX970 is the one that only Best Buy carries. I'm not sure if that should affect the thermal capabilities of the card or not but just in case I thought I'd throw it out there.

Corsair Graphite T760 case

Ran it completely stock settings. I don't OC, because I like stuff to run forever whenever possible and there's too little gain (and then this kind of thing). So I'm assuming if there was any OC it was the default, which I've had other cards in the past (put my "old" 660TI back in and it's still crunches fine) that had OC like my 660 built in and they never had any problems. I don't OC anything unless it's built in and I use the most basic of levels that they come with. I already have my RMA number from EVGA and will be getting a replacement once I ship it to them. I killed an 850W PSU once because of crunching with 3 graphics cards and I got a warranty replacement on that one too. I was just really surprised by this because the card typically sat at 70°C, while others before sat at 80°C. Any recommendations for water cooler blocks or should I just look at the 1070 as a replacement and sell the warranty replacement?

I purchased my EVGA GTX 970 on March 19th, 2016. It has officially burned out as of Thursday. That's the fastest I've ever had a GPU card fail on me. I'm thinking the replacement will get a standalone water cooling unit added to it...

Where does the SWAN_SYNC option even go? I keep seeing environment variable swan_sync and set to 0 but I don't know where to put it. What file? Please let me know.

Ironically, I used to know where to put it (about 4 years ago) and now I can't remember.

I'm crunching on 3 gpus in my tower and felt that losing a core for a small performance gain seemed kind of pointless. I run a quad core processor and I like to keep it running with tasks from other projects as well as GPUGRID. I tried swan sync and I can say that it works but I feel it's not worth it for 10-15% increase when you can put that core to work doing other helpful things. My gpu's still crank out the work without sacrificing other projects. GPU utilization seems to vary from pc to pc but I find that even with 100% cpu use I'm still getting 60-85% GPU use and that works for me to help keep the temps down. Good luck crunching!
