hello!
Any big jobs on the horizon?

Aren't you getting any language model work?
You have nice GPU's
I'm sitting here with a older 1080 and I think I have to delete this project (out of BOINC) until the fall as there is no work for me and I have flatlined for weeks now.

No the 1080 Ti cannot run the sLLM tasks. They require cards with 16GB or more of memory.

Project is backed off messages come from the client, not the project. Just means that either communications with the project is not normal or that the client is too busy with other projects work and GPUGrid is way down the priority order due to more pressing deadlines from other projects/

ok thanks

I have not got any work for a long time and all i get for status message is: Not requesting tasks: don't need (CPU: blocked by project preferences; NVIDIA GPU: project is backed off)

Not requesting tasks ok..but project is backed off?
I can't get a clear explanation of that from the chatbots

And the other thing is...can the 1080 run the small LLM? the bot thinks it can.

I looked up that error, outdated drivers were part of that.
But being I had completed over 25 simulations or whatever and it bombed on the latest one to start, my thought was bad data in that. But...the third person to get the task completed it ok. So I don't know.

But anyway..any thoughts on why I don't see anything but the current task and that I am flatlined since I restarted everything on the June 8? I know there was not a lot of work when I started, but there has been recently. But I can not see if I completed anything in the last 7 days successfully or if it was all errors.
That's what is bugging me now.

It seems like the server just wipes all information about what tasks I have done.
I have been crunching for 2 weeks now since I was on vacation, I guess some tasks from the ATM have errored out due to exit child (the latest one) but they disapear from my account list before I have a chance to view it.

I don't monitor my system as much as I used to so I miss these errors.

My RAC is flatlined now and I can't figure out what is going on.
I did update my GPU drivers, so maybe the next task will run.

On this last task I got to around the 29th run of the task and then it imploded. The first person that got also have error -195 exit child.

So is that why I am 0 new credit? to many exit childs? I have no way to confirm that.

There are no stats since the system went down for modification and they found a bug in the tasks and the university has changed security protocols so the project is not exporting or importing any information right now.
Consider the project 'dead' for the moment.
Steve will tell us when hes worked through all the issues and running again.

i tried Linux Mint - mozilla won't work, firefox won't work

COMPLETE waste of time - PLEASE LOAD WINDOW TASKS.......

It's NOT your OS that's the problem they moved the Server behind a University firewall and they have rules that GPUGrid is working to get thru, then Steve said they found a database problem they hope to fix soon.

Mikey, I told you this in our PM conversation.

Asked in the Discord page and got this answer:

Steve is on leave until next week.
For example, in ATM and ATMML, the apps need to be updated to what we have locally. Once this is done I have loads of work to send
We have made some changes, mainly performance/speed improvements

Server has been upgraded, but no new tasks are being released to us.
There are 31 in queue that have not been released.
There are 2 in progress and 7 waiting for assimilation.
All servers are running.

I sent a message to Steve and hope that he can find some time to update us on what is going on.

Steve - why are there 27 tasks that are sitting in the queue but not being sent out?
Are they all stuck and you haven't removed them or what is going on?
When do we get new tasks?

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I followed your procedure and the error is gone. Alas, I didn't get any tasks (the Status page says there's 3, but I'm not sure how reliable that is).

Thanks again.

Doug

I saw those last night, but I guess they are stuck in the system.
ATMML: Free energy with neural networks 3

Isn't that what we were working on before the server move?

Hi,

Now that GPUGrid is finally back, I'm getting this error:

2/25/2025 12:06:11 PM | GPUGRID | Scheduler request to https://www.gpugrid.net/PS3GRID_cgi/cgi failed: HTTP file not found

Anyone know why or what this means or how to fix it?

Thanks.

Doug

I just clicked on the reset button in BOINC manager.
The click on update
You will get this message: Master URL changed from https://www.gpugrid.net/ to https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/
It will download the master file and then pause.

Funny how this always seems to happen on a weekend and nothing can be done until Monday.

I am wondering anyway how much or not they are interested in keeping their own project working properly, given that obviously everyone leaves on Friday afternoon and no one keeps an eye on what's happening until the following week :-(

EU project (Barcelona). M-F only. Not paid for weekends. They are a donation based program with a bit of government funding, so there is no money for weekend work. So if something goes SOL after hours then it waits until the next working day. Actually I don't think any BOINC project has a 24/7 monitor. Rosetta in the early days did, but all the projects I am on now don't.
