Well, he's got highly overclocked G200 chips with all 240 shaders.

May be because the Ubuntu boxes at work are such b******, you can't do anything with them. Until you use some black magic, but I've never really gotten past sacrificing the goat. And I always forget if the monkey band has to dance clockwise or anti-clockwise when they're screeching the Monkey Island theme

As I wrestle with getting my main rig to POST successfully, this made me laugh hysterically. Nearly snarfed my coffee. Thanks for that, needed it.

Extra Terrestrial Apes It's counter clockwise but how you discovered the secret to my 30 ms/steps is beyond me, don't tell me the neighbors called the police again to complain about the late night chanting and goat cadavers, there is no pleasing some people.

If you want to know how I am getting my numbers just ask, it's not a secret formula that I am trying to hide.

I am running Windows XP 32Bit, my Cpu is an i7 920 running at stock speed,I always install the latest Nvidia Beta Drivers available, my machine is used 99.99% Boinc and I am only running one other project which is ABC@home and it runs on all 8 cores while GPUGRID is running and it lists .24cpu 1 Cuda for all 4 jobs, I set the priority of my 4 GPUGRID jobs to Realtime or 24 (default is Below Normal or 6), so I have 12 jobs running, 8 are @idle(4) 4 are @Realtime(24), no other machine I have had would have even allowed me to do this, as soon as I changed the speed to real it would freeze up totally, but this processor allows it. I am assuming because they are only using .24 of each core it doesn't lock up. I am also overclocking my 295's using EVGA Precision 1.60 and my settings are Core Clock 686 Shader Clock 1496 (the site reports 1512)Memory Clock 1286 Fans 85% and my gpu temps are 63,61 64,61 Degrees C. The temps do seem higher with the new drivers.

Awesome response, thanks for the info, I didn't know if you read the forums when I originally asked the question. Any reason why you have kept the cpu at stock? Stability? What speed RAM do you have? Do you have it tight or loose or default?

I think you will find that a large percentage of the people who are active in this project read the boards on a regular basis, you almost have to check them just to keep the software updated and running smoothly, and all of them are willing to offer any advice they can.

You ask about me running my CPU at stock speed and you have hit upon a nagging problem I've had since I purchased my new computer. I designed it on the NCIX Canada site and had it shipped insured by FedEx Overnight Air for about $140 but the invoiced weight was a little over 50lbs and no 8% sales tax. I will compliment them on their packing everything was secured with plastic ties and the interior of the case was jammed full of bubble wrap, nothing could move. I had problems they left out the adapters for the power supply to connect to the 295's, they each take a 6 and an 8 pin connection, I contacted them and got nowhere and was waiting for a reply when I called again and the support guy said wait a minute while I walk over to where they built it and ask the builders, and they were still connected to the test power supply as I did not order a system with one, and he over-nighted them 3000 miles by air. I was so relived to get it running, I ignored the fact that it was running way too hot, I have a Noctura NH-U12P SE 1366 cpu cooler and my temps are 65 Degrees C @stock for the CPU (some apps. list each CPU core @76 C but CPU low 60's I'm taking no chances)in a room kept at 60 F that is of course 100% Load 27/7, I never shut it down. So it is obvious that the Cooler is not properly installed, they ship the system with everything just as if you bought each component and put it together yourself, all the empty boxes, after all you may need the original packaging to get Manufacturer Service, but they left out one thing of course, the Thermal Paste, it includes a tube and it sells for $15 and I am really tapped and been putting off seeing if they will send me a tube. I purchased it planning on some serious overclocking in mind, almost went Liquid Cooling but I did go for ASUS Rampage II Extreme Motherboard and while I am running XP 32 currently I do have 6GB of Ram but it can't see it, another long story, it took weeks to get the Pair of 295's to run properly and this system just worked with no messing around at the time, now 64 bit version do as well, it's Aeneon Triple Channel DDR3-1600. I have also been really busy doing other stuff and the numbers from the 2 295's and the 260 I bought over the holidays that started me on this binge, produce such good numbers I have not made it a priority for just Boinc but with the summer heat coming I will soon, it even has an app. that asks if you would like to run your 920 as a 940 or a 965 with the click of the mouse it does all the hard stuff and changes the necessary settings and a $390 Cpu becomes a $1300 one, my 3 computers are doing about 100,000/day, from my screen name you may ascertain I have lots of free time, and for a few thousand that I inherited I moved to the top of the site, people used to have to run farms of computers with CPU's with GPU's it a new ballgame.

Thanks for the hint! I'll write it down somewhere where not even I can find it again, so no unauthorised neighbours stumble across it.

And remember MrS it has to be the correct phase of the moon or all is lost.

No really I find Ubuntu way easier than Windows for the majority of things. Well until I got a DFI X58 T3eH6. I cannot even install any flavour of Linux except Ubuntu 8.04 LTS otherwise it kernel panics in the installer boot. Even the goat, minkey and moon do not help maybe there is some part of the ritual I do not know. I should ask Linus lol.

On page 10 of this thread, I read there was a bios issue with installing OS's in certain configurations: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/reviews/15827-dfi-dk-x58-t3eh6-living-review.html

Try using the latest bios

Thanks for those links :) that was a great post.

I added my trauma to the forums there but at least I see some of the issues I had others are having (not sure if that means my RMA will work now if it's all boards).

I did flash the ROM to the latest one during my installation ritual :)
TBH I didn't notice it improved anything but then I finally got it working after the flash so maybe it did help.
