Windows remote desktop establishes a new graphics driver for the remote desktop session which doesn't support GPU processing. And yes, I have experienced this item before. I have also posted a link in this forum to an item on the Nvidia website CUDA developer forum describing the problem and reason for it. A workaround proposed by another member here is to use VNC or similar, but remote desktop connections are problematic. My two cents. theres a hack for xp that allows multiple sessions. this lets you remote in without disturbing the console session. thus no compute errors as i want no responsibility for anyone's ability to edit the registry and manually replace dll's, i'll let you google it. |

I would not recommend VNC as it's not secure enough. There is a XP patch which allows you multiple logons, so the CUDA could work on one account and you can use remote desktop on another: http://www.kood.org/terminal-server-patch/ It is not officially supported but long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away...) when I used to use windows, it worked really good. However I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. |

I would not recommend VNC as it's not secure enough. You might want to try url=http://vnc2me.org/]VNC2Me[/url] which encapsulates a VNC in a SSH tunnel with 256 bit encryption with the power of VNC. It's still in beta but it looks good. Rob |

thanks to all for your replies...... if it's a known issue, it might bw worth adding to the FAQ's?. REmote desktop is my standard way of managing my farm, an I'm probably not the only one out there to do it that way... Oh well, it look like I might have to get out of my chair and walk to the PC's now ;-).... as I don't like VNC Ni! to all.... |

... Why not use BOINCview? Their site is down, but if you need it, just send me a PM with your email address and I can send it to you... pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

The problem is that sometimes boinc does not respond to boincview commands. So sadly we sometimes need to log into the remote spots, in my case i have to go all the way up into my house. Its a staggering 2 stairs up ..... pfff :) |
