I've had a couple of task errors in a row and thought I would post to see if anyone had experienced similar problems. I had a few problems earlier where Ubuntu would freeze completely, and I had to recycle power to get it going again. That was with the standard 177.82 drivers (But, I'm still not sure whether that was GPU related, or not). So, I installed the 180.11 driver package and now I've had 2 WUs in a row error out after about 20-60mins with: Fri 06 Mar 2009 22:12:03 GMT|GPUGRID|Computation for task LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0 finished Fri 06 Mar 2009 22:12:03 GMT|GPUGRID|Output file LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0_1 for task LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0 absent Fri 06 Mar 2009 22:12:03 GMT|GPUGRID|Output file LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0_2 for task LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0 absent Fri 06 Mar 2009 22:12:03 GMT|GPUGRID|Output file LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0_3 for task LtA3564-SH2_US_8-0-10-SH2_US_8390000_0 absent WUs are: 365980 375115 The card (GTX260) is running @ stock speeds - no overclock - on Ubuntu 8.10 temps ~60c. This is a dual-boot system and the Wus run fine on exactly the same harware, with the card overclocked to 700MHz, on Windows 7. My current Wu has been running for ~3hrs now and seems to be ok. So, hopefully, I just had a couple of bad ones. Anyone had similar problems. Mark |

"segmentation violation" .. I haven't seen this error before. Your card seems to be factory overclocked (shader @ 1.40 GHz instead of 1.25 GHz), but as you say, this shouldn't cause the errors if it works under Win. Anyone running sucessfully with these newer Linux drivers? MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

...Your card seems to be factory overclocked (shader @ 1.40 GHz instead of 1.25 GHz)... Yes, it has a factory OC to 666MHz core, 1404MHz shader and 1152MHz memory. XFX GTX 260(216) 'Black Edition'. The next WU from this pc has just finished and validated successfully so, hopefully, it was just a minor glitch. I'll post further if I have any more error out. Meanwhile, I've downloaded, but not installed, the 180.22 drivers. If I get any more errors, I'll try them and see if they make a difference. Mark |
