Hello, this is my first post! I have upgraded to the latest boinc, but I get these messages:

Fri 06 Mar 2009 12:55:14 PM EST|GPUGRID|Message from server: No work sent
Fri 06 Mar 2009 12:55:14 PM EST|GPUGRID|Message from server: Full-atom molecular dynamics is not available for your type of computer.

Any idea why? I have an nvidia 9800 GX2 which is said to work with this no?

~any help would be appreciated, Istvan.

When you say "the latest version", which do you mean? 6.6.12? 6.4.7?

You card should be fine, but the server sometimes will send that message if it has run out of work.

Hmm... I don't see any coprocessor listed for your computer...
Do you have the Nvidia drivers installed?
And like Paul already said - which BOINC version do you have installed? "The latest" doesn't tell us much. ;-)

Don't blame the 9800GX2, this is not the source of the problem.

If like me you have other projects, I had to suspend all others, then did a manual update with GPUGrid, before I got WU's.

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

I am using BOINC 6.45, running on 64-bit ubuntu studio. Here is some on my nvidia setup:

$ lspci | grep -i nvidia
01:00.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation Tesla S870 (rev a2)
02:00.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation Tesla S870 (rev a2)
02:02.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation Tesla S870 (rev a2)
03:00.0 3D controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 9800 GX2 (rev a2)
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 9800 GX2 (rev a2)

I am using linux 2.6.27-13-generic

I have installed:

    *cudatoolkit_2.1_linux64_ubuntu8.04
    *cuda-sdk-linux-2.10.1215.2015-3233425
    *I didn't install NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.22-pkg2 -- should i?

~please let me know what more info you need, Istvan

That would be the only one you really need! ;-) You don't need the toolkit and SDK to run GPUGRID. Only the display drivers...

I'm not sure if this matters at all, but I have the nvidia driver 177.82 installed from apt, is this enough or do I have to use the other one?

Maybe. When BOINC starts up, under the Messages tab in the BoincMgr, is there a line that reads: Coprocessor: GeForce 9800 GX2

If so, then you should be all set. If not, then uninstall the apt-installed NVIDIA drivers, and re-install NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.22-pkg2.
