Hello, New to the project and I'm wondering what these errors might point to. I'm on BOINC 6.4.7 running Vista Buisness: MDIO ERROR: cannot open file "restart.coor" No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting # Using CUDA device 0 # Device 0: "Quadro NVS 290" # Clock rate: 918000 kilohertz # Total amount of global memory: 268435456 bytes # Number of multiprocessors: 2 # Number of cores: 16 MDIO ERROR: cannot open file "restart.coor" No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting # Using CUDA device 0 # Device 0: "Quadro NVS 290" # Clock rate: 918000 kilohertz # Total amount of global memory: 268435456 bytes # Number of multiprocessors: 2 # Number of cores: 16 MDIO ERROR: cannot open file "restart.coor" No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting </stderr_txt> ]]> Thanks |

A reboot seemed to clear things up a bit after my upgrade to 6.4.7. I've errored a bunch of WU's and I'm sure my machine is now listed as unreliable. How can I get a few more WU's to see if the reboot cleared up my GPU issues? Also, I've seen a lot of talk about "SLI" and the need to turn that off. What is "SLI", how do I find it, and how do I turn it off? Thanks in advance |

SLI - scalable link interface. Allows graphical applications to use multiple GPUs to decrease graphical processing time. For CUDA/BOINC, SLI will make BOINC see only 1 GPU, as any game or other graphic software needs to see it. For cuda you want the 2 GPUs to work on their own, so disabling SLI will allow that. To disable SLI, go into your Nvidia Control Panel and select the SLI option, then choose disable. Depending on your setup you may not even have that option. I am using a x48 chipset board, Intel, meaning no SLI ( i know, x58, blah blah). I dont even have the option for SLI in my control panel. I would also recommend BOINC version 6.5.0, it seems to work the best for me with GPU work. |

A reboot seemed to clear things up a bit after my upgrade to 6.4.7. I've errored a bunch of WU's and I'm sure my machine is now listed as unreliable. How can I get a few more WU's to see if the reboot cleared up my GPU issues? Run some tasks successfully. The BOINC System is "self healing" (or is supposed to be), so, if you are unreliable, the way to become reliable is to be reliable. Over time, the system will notice and increase the reliability score and your download totals ... |

Thanks guys. I wish I could run some tasks correctly! I'm over my limit for today ( 8 returned bad) so I'll just have to wait. |
