As some of you might know, before boinc, before Seti, distriubted.net were the first pioneers in internet distributed computing. I have'nt touched that project in years but made a come back when they went cuda for their rc5-72 crack attempt. Personally I prefer their OGR projects over their RC5 projects. I don't remember the exact figures but I was doing 1.5 million keys per second a few years back. Now I'm averaging 500 million keys per second on a gtx 280. It will take 100% per CPU core, but their might be room for improvement. GPU-Z shows a constant card current of 61.7 amps. If any one is interested here is the link: http://www.distributed.net/download/prerelease.php Its not a very popular project but they always managed to write some of the most efficient and optimized code I've seen. |

Thanks for the note. Without digging any deeper.. do I get it right that they're doing encryption stuff? MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

The RC5-72 project uses brute force to try to decrypt a secret message from RSA Labs that's encrypted with a 72-bit key. At their current rate, they'll finish testing all possible keys in roughly a thousand years. |
