The given workunit is the 8th resend I've received. It failed on all previous hosts. I thought it will fail on mine too, so I made it run next. Just as I expected, it disappeared from my host very fast, but to my surprise it was successful. https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38413324 I seriously doubt it though. |

I've had two Christmas gifts. You can see in the output that they bombed. In my book, it makes up for the demonic ones that quit after one or two hours. |

It's okay to have some "Christmas gifts" if the overwhelming majority of your workunits runs fine (=long) and produce results. But there are hosts which produce only errors while still receive all the credits. That's - unfair for crunchers producing results - goes against the idea of the credit sytem - "hacks" the gridcoin coin awarding scheme |

It also puts garbage into the science results as the researchers have to resend those tasks until they are correctly processed. I hope on Monday they are able to find a way to have the software flag these as invalid results. |

Frankly, I'm not that impressed with the researcher's coders. So many "error while computing" WUs. What's a few fake completes to go with them for reworking. They seem to treat the volunteers as hungry wolves because well, they are basically correct. At least they give decent credit for the successes to mitigate the others. |

Wonder if this is the same issue that we saw last year: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/forum_thread.php?id=5468&postid=61786#61786 |

Yes, I think it is the same issue, just with some new errors their code is not properly catching. |

I think it's a different issue, as my task was clearly in a failed state (particle coordinate is Not A Number). This is a very basic error, it should be correctly handled by now. Maybe it's related to the server change. Maybe it's related to be the 8th resend. |

Glancing back at your "completed" (evil grin) task, I read a max error count of 7 and there were already 7 errors. If that's the case, I don't see how anyone could game it. My 2 gifts were JNK1's. One where I was the first iteration and one as a third iteration BUT I had a JNK1 yesterday finish normally. There's at least two issues here. |

I'm seeing more or is it just because I'm focused on it. I had EWC (error while computing) and the next person got the "gift". I also received a 3rd gift and it wasn't a JNK1. |

The top computers list is full of hosts failing the ATM tasks but still get credit: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/top_hosts.php |

Good point. A Science United computer at the top has nothing except errors and gifts. Most interesting is that they don't have any active tasks. |

There is a lot of related discussion in the issues channel of the GPUGrid Discord server. The devs have put a fix in place so the tasks error out without credit. However, there are tasks from before the fix which are still showing up and getting credit for no work. However, the problem hosts are now mostly not receiving credit. The devs need to find a way to keep incompatible GPUs from even getting tasks, so hopefully they will work on that next. |

This project appears to post stats for external partners once a day. I know another project that produces four times a day. Because of timing, it will be hard to catch them exactly the same. |

I've received more such tasks than I've anticipated: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38415407 https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38428665 https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38428768 https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38427002 https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38427643 https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38428384 Some of them were running fairly long before running into a NaN error. |

That's the strangest one: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/workunit.php?wuid=31459524 My Windows PC received it. It failed with NaN (just like on the previous 3 Windows PC) with no credit awarded: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38428953 Then one of my LInux PC received it. It failed with Nan, but received full credit: https://gpugrid.net/gpugrid/result.php?resultid=38429310 |
