I just realized I have a lot of older drivers like 456 and 460 and think it is time to upgrade to 472.12 I suspect that allows me to get 11.2 version work units. Should I wait for all work units to complete before upgrading? OTH if 11.21 is not stable then I should stick with older drivers??? Thanks for looking! |

I would wait for tasks to complete before updating the drivers. I've seen reports of tasks erroring out in this scenario and getting the dreaded "cannot restart on a different device" message. as a side note, if you are contributing to Einstein, and you update all systems to at least 465+ drivers (on both Windows and Linux) you will be able to get the new version of the gamma ray GPU application, which is significantly faster (40-60%).

Thanks! I just went from 1.22 to 1.28 on Einstein. Will checkout the improvement. I was able to upgrade the NVidia systems that had just one video board. I suspended the project, stopped Boinc, then installed 472. My system with 2 different boards (2080s & 1660ti) I will wait till one or both finish before upgrade. |
