Hey, i´m using the Worldcommunity Boinc version and added GPUGrid, with my 1080TI it was working fine but my new GPU just never even gets to 1%. My GPU is stable in all Benchmarks/Games i know. Jobas: New version ACEMD 2.10 (Cuda 101) |

You need to remove that host from GPUGrid. There is no application support yet for the Nvidia 3000 series cards. All tasks error out immediately. |

Watch for a post from Toni in the News section for when a new application is available that supports Ampere cards. |

exact same for me. as was mentioned previously, the app here currently is not compiled to be compatible with the Ampere cards. the app needs to be updated for compatibility with the new cards. You wont be able to crunch for GPUGRID on Ampere cards until the app is updated.

exact same for me. When we hit the licensing snag a hew days ago, Toni indicated to me privately that he intended "to play with the 30xx series". No timescale indicated, and the app would appear as a Beta app first. Watch that space. |

I hope the beta app come soon, I'm dying to see what the Ampere are capable of. |

The same happened when the 2080 cards came out until application support was created. I had lots of issues on many sites when the Turning cards first were released. Life's short; make fun of it! |

How long did it take to get apps for the Turing GPUs after they where released? |

How long did it take to get apps for the Turing GPUs after they where released? Discussed in this post: http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=5159&nowrap=true#55373 The Turing App took longer as Project Admins changed the design of the App. Turing compatible App was the first Gpugrid app to use a Wrapper. |

I saw that Nvidia is going to introduce a new line of GPU products aimed at mining. At the same time they plan to adjust the drivers for RTX cards to make them much less suitable for mining. I would expect that this adjustment would have the same effect for computational computing. |

I saw that Nvidia is going to introduce a new line of GPU products aimed at mining. At the same time they plan to adjust the drivers for RTX cards to make them much less suitable for mining. I would expect that this adjustment would have the same effect for computational computing. this should have no impact to the applications here. the new cards still wont work without an updated app, and the app doesnt need to be updated in any special way to account for these cards. it just needs to be updated at all. currently all ampere cards are effectively locked out since it doesnt recognize the Ampere architecture (likely based on the gencodes baked into the app compilation). the current apps are only CUDA 10.0 (linux) and CUDA 10.1 (windows) which will only work with cards up to Turing. we need a CUDA 11.1 app for full support of the new cards. the "driver" limit is also a bit of a half-truth. first, the limit only applies to the Ethereum algorithm. other algorithms (and likely any compute loads that aren't ETH-hash) are not affected by the limit, according to 3rd party testing from some folks who were able to get their hands on the cards pre-release. second, the cards do not require a new driver for the limit to be applied. the people who were able to do testing on some RTX 3060, indicated that the limit was still there even with the old drivers (release drivers are not available yet) which leads us to believe that there is some kind of limit baked in the VBIOS/firmware itself.

My GTX 1060 (Pascal) is faster than the GTX 1650 (Turing).I think because it uses more power. The 1650 uses very little power. Tullio |

My GTX 1060 (Pascal) is faster than the GTX 1650 (Turing).I think because it uses more power. The 1650 uses very little power. not as much about power consumption. your 1060 (3GB) has 1152 cores, vs the 896 cores on the 1650. so 28.5% more cores on the 1060, but the GTX 1650 is more power efficient and gets more done per core/clock. so the fact that your 1060 is only about 10% faster overall while having almost 30% more cores, makes sense.

exact same for me. this was a posting from Richard Haselgrove on October 15, 2020 - i.e. half a year ago. Are there any indications as to whether the app will be updated for Ampere in the near future? |

Still no work for my 3080 :( Well, other projects are happy about this, because they get more GPU power until GPUGrid can make use of the nVidia 3000 series. |

You need to remove that host from GPUGrid. There is no application support yet for the Nvidia 3000 series cards. All tasks error out immediately. Looks like I'd better hold off on buying the RTX 3060 card I'm planning to have, then. World Community Grid is already offering GPU versions of their Open Pandemics tasks, though. https://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=480838 |
