HI,
we are testing a new application that will provide Turing support based on the new application acemd v3.

For now we have deprecated the linux version of v2 and we will soon release v3 for linux using a boinc wrapper.

If the boinc wrapper works, then it should be easy because the application works by itself and it has been tested extensively.

Great news. I'd love to help Beta test if that's possible. RTX 2070 on my main PC.

when will it be "released" to boinc clients? and why specific for linux only? or...when will be windows version "released" to boinc clients?

i am willing to spend couple of hundreds euro's to buy a rtx **** Ti card special for this if it will get WU units and calculate without errors

I have a 2070 waiting to crunch... so happy to test !
However, it's on a Windows 10 machine, will it work as well ?
(I can't install nor activate the Linux kernel onto it)

I am also willing to help test. I have a gaming laptop with a RTX 2070. Yes, I am running Windows. I will resume the workload just as soon as someone tells me when. I would love to continue to process for this project. I hope to hear some good news soon.

Windows will come soon provided that the wrapping works.

The Windows application is already working outside Boinc.

While I agree, it's best to focus on one app at a time to at least get one out the door faster.

Will GPU Windows app briefly be shutdown/queue runs dry when the update takes place? Or is it intended to be seamless?

If there is a shutdown then I will have a backup BOINC project ready until GPUGrid work resumes.

Currently have 3 Turing GPU 2080 / 2070 / 2060 on Win 8.1 waiting to test the new app. Picking up another 2070 & 1660 in next fortnight.

I agree.
Due to the WDDM overhead the RTX 2080Ti will be only slightly faster on Windows, than a GTX 1080Ti on Linux (with SWAN_SYNC on).
I see ~24% performance increase in the performance of the Einstein@home OpenCL client after I've upgraded to RTX 2080Ti from GTX 1080Ti on Linux.
I can install Windows 10 in 15 minutes to this host, or swap my cards around (again) when the Windows app is ready for testing.
However I strongly recommend for the GPUGrid staff to roll out the upgraded Linux client as soon as possible.

I have been chatting to Nvidia UK support regarding Turing editions and there is an RTX8000 if anyone has the money. They also support educational programmes so we should talk to Nvidia about hard cash discounts for proven and tested philanthropic grid computing.
There should be no reason to separate educational arena's from research ones.
The other issue is the cost of Turing based GPU is massively more expensive in the UK where I live. Maybe this is the case for the whole of the EU.

Maybe we can petition Nvidia in the USA for a programme linked to BOINC and gpugrid.net.

In my opinion, it would be sufficient, if BOINC might convince one of the hardware producers: AMD, NVIDIA, INTEL, et all or Microsoft, Apple; e-tailers: newegg.com, amazon.com; or just one Computer Shop next door to accept: GRIDCOIN as payment / currency.

With this you have your requirements fulfilled: it is a member of the proven and tested philanthropic grid computing community. Or at least has bought GRIDCOINs and therefore supports the volunteer computing of the BOINC community.

Today's e-mailing from nVidia in US included link above where educational institutions were invited to apply for a discounted purchase price.
List price was USD 2499.
