Thanks, but I am not running BOINC as a service.I have BOINC 7.8.3 on my SuSE Leap 15.0 and the projects directory is in my home directory, together with the slots directory. Tullio |

Does anyone here have a GTX 1060 3GB with Linux and swan sync enabled? I am curious as to how it performs since I just bought one I have a GTX 1060 3Gb in a Ryzen based host with Lubuntu LTS 18 and SWAN SYNC enabled. For my computer I saw a 5.4% improvement in WU return times just by enabling SWAN SYNC. |

approximately how long does it take to complete a work unit for your 1060? Example of Tasks completed since 19th November 1:00 UTC: PABLO_V2_p27_isolated_IDP - 30200 seconds PABLO_V2_short_sj403_IDP - 35240 seconds nvidia-smi reports GPU at 100% utilisation consuming on average 98W whilst processing these tasks and average GPU temp of 64 Celsius (ambient 24 Celsius). GPU clocked at 1885Mhz Memory clocked at 7810Mhz I consider the GTX1060 to be an extremely efficient card. Additionally - When GPU is underclocked to 60W, performance only drops 17% with an average GPU temp of 51 Celsius |

Yes, but I am running SuSE Leap 15.0. I wrote SWAN_SYNC=1 in the /etc/environment file but no result. Anyway it's OK for me as long as tasks complete, time is no issue. I have enabled AMD-V on my new Ryzen 5 1400 PC and ATLAS@home tasks run on 4 cores. Tullio |

Did you logoff or reboot the computer after making the change? That is required to re-read the environment file. |

Did you enter the parameter as such: This method is for entry into the 'service' file (/lib/systemd/system/boinc-client.service) when boinc-client is run as a service. In Tullio's case, if I understand correctly, boinc-client is not running as a service, hence his syntax is correct for adding into the global environment file (/etc/environment). The environment file is read on login, a reboot is not necessary. So logging off, and logging in again, is enough to enable SWAN_SYNC variable. Did you add the parameter on a new line after any other parameter in the file? As Keith mentioned, SWAN_SYNC=1 needs to be on a new line in the environment file. |

This i what I did. Now I have downloaded the newest nVidia driver 417.01 on the Windows 10 PC in time to watch the Mars landing on NASA TV. Edge which was installed by HP did not work. I shall stick to Firefox. Tullio |

Since setting SWAN_SYNC=1 in boinc-client.service, I am seeing about 23% more throughput on both long and short GPU WU's on my 3 GTX1060's. Did a crude average of similar WU's (those with 291,000 points credited) using the environmental variable set compared with the same amount with the variable not set shows crunch time about 77% of the time with those not set. Starting to make tier 1 on some of the short acemd jobs and even made the top 30 (about mid way) on two so far. I am using 410.78 and am not sure if the driver itself is helping or hindering but overall things running faster. Thanks to all who figured this out :). |

approximately how long does it take to complete a work unit for your 1060? How do you do that? My typical runtime is 138,264, fastest 87,682. I have GTX 1060 6GB (laptop). According to GPU-Z, GPU clock is 1670 MHz, Memory clock 405 MHz (according to sensors; Graphics Card tab shows memory clock as 2 GHz). What should I do to check my graphics card performance and to - potentially - fix perf.issues? |

Already at 33W I have 68C, while the card I quoted in my message, has 64C at 98W... I believe that's because my laptop doesn't have a dedicated fan on the GPU. Besides, my card's memory clocks at 405 MHz, according to GPU-Z, or 810 MHz, according to nvidia-sli -q, which is incomparably lower to the quoted 7.8 GHz. Moreover, when I tried to set certain parameters, the utility returned a warning that overriding operations are not supported: PS C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI> .\nvidia-smi.exe -cc 1 Overriding CUDA clock limit is not supported for this device. UPD: The above log answered my question. When I switched my laptop to Gaming Mode, it resulted in higher CPU/GPU/GPU Mem clocks as well as in much louder fan noise. I'll run it in this mode for one or two WU to see how well it performs, then, probably, will have to switch it to a less noisy mode 'cause the built-in laptop fan can't be trusted, can it? At least, it can't run in such extreme mode 24x7, can it? |

Pascal and Turing cards don't allow setting clocks with the -ac command. The last to do so was Maxwell cards. You can overclock Pascal and Turing cards by using the normal gpu clocking utilities like Afterburner or PrecisionX or nvidia-settings in Linux. |
