Hello all! Hopefully I can get some help. I am running i7 6700k and Nvidia 1080 gtx founders addition. Using the latest drivers (397.64). After some amount of time the WU stops responding. The % doesn't move and the ETA changes to (---). I was thinking of addition a new partition to my HD and running Linux for BOINC "IF" it improves performance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Michael |

Issues with recent drivers updates. Try uninstalling the driver, download a driver 2 updates back and do a clean install. Then see if the work units process correctly. Sidenote, you don't always have to update your drivers when a new one comes out. Most new drivers are for new games that have recently come out. As someone pointed out, when they update the drivers, it forces the kernal for OpenCl to be recompiled for the new driver. The developers of the drivers usually don't test those for scientific computations so errors pop their heads up and then you see hotfixes being released.

Then see if the work units process correctly.I don't have any issues with the latest driver (397.64). I think the stalling of the WUs is caused by frequent suspension of workunits. See this post. Sidenote, you don't always have to update your drivers when a new one comes out.Yes, but this way you can prevent Windows update from updating the GPU driver unexpectedly (without stopping the BOINC tasks, which results in failure). |
