Hello! Will there be some more of the applications available for other plattforms than the CELL? Standard x86_64 or maybe GPGPU computing? P.S. this looks like the first project with 100% Linux market share :-))) Linux Users Everywhere @ BOINC |

I understand that the idea for this project to run on PS3. I was wondering if there is the ability, or any plans, to run it on other platforms, like linux on PCs? I understand it would be much slower. But I assume any additional crunching would be welcome. Similar to having both C2Q and PIII crunching other projects. I see that there are Linux applications out there. My guess is they were for development, and maybe benchmarking. Just curious. Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

Hello! We do not expect to have PC applications any time soon, although it would clearly gather a lot of CPUs. The problem is that, with a PC, the type of applications we are doing now would last over two weeks. Quite useless, much better to run on a cluster. The PS3 is like a little cluster. GPGPU: We are looking into it, but developing good code for the Cell processor and GPUs is not easy. We may do something here in the future. So for now, Linux anywhere. |
