the 1050ti is about as strong as your previous 960... I would love to see HCF1 protein folding and interaction simulations to help my little boy... someday. |

the 1050ti is about as strong as your previous 960... I bought the gtx 750ti in hopes of light gaming and crunching on gpugrid with windows XP. For gaming and the price I paid, I couldn't be happier with my choice. Crunching is a different story. I just have seen on the news that windows XP is no longer going to be supported on gpugrid in a period of time, so I'm in a rough position right now. I liked this GPU because it was a good bang for the buck, supported windows XP, and isn't so power hungry compared to my 960. While I understand all your valid points, keep in mind the gtx 1050ti was more than my desired budget. I know it's not expensive to some but I do not have a steady income and I must pay to fill the gas up in my car. My contribution will not be significant until I get my first real job and build a true gaming monster. But, I have always wanted to help out with as much as I have, even if it's the bare minimum, I'm still happy to help. I see I'm almost taking 2 days to finish a project on here with Windows XP and no WDDM. But I don't mind because I get what I pay for. I am looking forward to seeing the changes on here, despite my position I'm in. I was inactive for a month and may not be able to keep up with you guys, but I'll sure do my best. All I'm requesting is that you, or some at least, see where I'm coming from halfway at least. Thank you and I hope to keep being part of this project. Cruncher/Learner in progress. |

the 1050ti is about as strong as your previous 960... I've been thinking on and off about what you said. I can see what you mean now. Right now I have about 90 US dollars, but must have some as back-up. I should be getting money soon for doing some things and I will see what I can do to get a newer GPU. I still have my old core 2 quad computer sitting next to me just collecting dust, though. I'm thinking of putting the 750ti in my core 2 quad PC and getting a new GPU to put in my core i5 2400 PC. How does this sound? The GPU I will buy is unknown, I must look into it. This time I won't go half way. Thank you all again. -Logo |

Hmm.. And what about selling the core2 PC and the gtx750 for 100$... ? You can already buy a Zotac mini gtx1060 3G for ~190$. Will be a good match with the i5-2400. the core2 is an old fashioned power eater anyway... If I may say so. I would love to see HCF1 protein folding and interaction simulations to help my little boy... someday. |
