The last few times this happened GDF had to issue new work manually. The current shortage may be caused by people aborting their 6.45 units to get 6.48 and by some people erroring out their 6.48s.

click the update button. Its hardcoded in the client to back off for 24h, not something from the project.

I've installed 6.3.14 GPU-enabled BOINC on the weekend. My 8800GTS is found as a coprocessor, but till 48 hours I don't receive work?
I'm running a Intel Core2Quad. Did I miss something to do?

Which driver do you use? Should be the 177.67 or newer, the newest is the 178.24 WHQL. Do you get more information from the log?

If your 8800GTS is a 320 or 640 MB model than it has the elder G80 chip, which is unfortunately not supported.

After carefully reading posts about getting work to do from the server, I read what you say about the G80 and G92 ship... I suppose this explain that even when pushing on the update button, I still got the message: "PS3GRID|Message from server: Full-atom molecular dynamics is not available for your type of computer."

Will this change in the future? The support of the G80 ship? Because it is supported for Folding, and it was before the release of the 177.64 driver. So, I suppose there's no big difference, is it? If CUDA/G80 works for Folding, it should works for GpuGrid.

When I'm not playing games, my 8800 GTX 768MB is... hungry!!!

In the case of G80 chips the message "PS3GRID|Message from server: Full-atom molecular dynamics is not available for your type of computer." is a work-around to avoid your PC from crashing every WU it gets.

Generally the problem is that there are different versions of CUDA hardware capability. GPU-Grid used to have two seperate code paths for capability 1.0 (G80) and for 1.1+ (G92 and newer). But after the transition to newer CUDA compilers the 1.0 code path crashes. They are looking into it, but can't guarantee anything.

I have no problem getting work as of this time.

Three hours ago I too was getting messages:

Which meant server was out of work for GPU's. It may still have work for PS3's and if fact the server status page will show work available, unfortunately it does not show how much for each application, only a lump sum total. When you get the 'Cell processor' message, that refers to the PS3 work, what happens is the server runs out of GPU work, but it can't send PS3 work to GPU's so it tells you that those are not available for your type of computer, because your computer with NVIDIA GPU will not support PS3 cell processor formated work . Check the applications page and you see two apps listed under "cell processor", this is why you get that message twice.

"PS3GRID|Message from server: Full-atom molecular dynamics is not available for your type of computer.
This usually refers to your GPU is not compatible, being older model.

Note the two messages contain a different application name, which I have underlined.

There is lot of work for both. I have restarted the server to see if the problem disappear.
