UBUNTU (all distribs) users add this PPA with this command line :

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-get update

You may then use the Synaptic packets manager to install the latest available proprietary driver from NVidia .
You don't need any more a manual installation !
