How do I go about figuring out the problem behind the compute error message I'm getting? For what it's worth, SETI@Home is able to utilise the GPU. Driver: 372.70 Card: GeForce 1080 OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Anniversary Update BOINC: 7.6.22 I suspect the problem is with the GPU grid application itself, it seems to ship with the CUDA Runtime and CUDA FFT libs from CUDA 6.5.19...ancient! May I suggest: 1) Using more recent software 2) Better error messages and reporting, not just a "computation error" message that doesn't describe the issue. |

The waiting is on NVIDIA to release CUDA 8 for public Gold release to support these cards. GPUGRID cannot do anything until that day. GPUGRID is Beta testing for Linux for this, but are not allowed to release the application on NVIDIA Beta, Alpha, or RC candidates. Please keep running an older app from one of the BOINC projects that can still use the older libs on the new card (like Seti) and keep an eye on the GPUGRID forums and the NVIDIA news to start running the new app after NVIDIA does release the dev kit for the new CUDA libs. Here is the page that will change when NVIDIA releases the CUDA Toolkit 8 Gold: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit Here is the GPUGRID News forum: https://www.gpugrid.net/forum_forum.php?id=24 1 Corinthians 9:16 "For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" Ephesians 6:18-20, please ;-) http://tbc-pa.org |

Thanks for the update. Why not use/test the CUDA8 RC? At work, we've been using it a lot with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on our quasi-production systems for several weeks (months?) now without issue (except for gcc 5.4 which broke CUDA 8 RC, but Nvidia promptly fixed it with a patch). |

There are some licensing and legal issues that prevent GPUGrid from release the application on NVIDIA Beta, Alpha, or RC candidates. The application is already working in their testing environment but will not be released until CUDA 8 Gold. |
