POEM GPU units are intended to "crystallisation studies of organic molecules" more than biomedical investigation like Rosetta or GPUgrid. On the other hand, POEM CPU units are intended to protein simulation . |

Hi, it's a group of a team (here VENETO is a region of Italy). K. Dreams do not always come true. But not because they are too big or impossible. Why did we stop believing. (Martin Luther King) |

OT: What does [VENETO] or other in squarebrackets in usernames mean? Like KidKidKid said, Boinc Italy team uses the regions of Italy as beginning of usernames (it's not mandatory) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regions_of_Italy VENETO is one of these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veneto P.S New student is arrived? |

I just downloaded a WU compiled by Adria. Is the the new student? |

new student has left? I am asking because the periods without new tasks available are getting more frequent and longer. |

More work please. Crunching for other projects but would love to crunch more for GPUGrid. |

Can anyone from the GPUGRID people enlighten us on the current status with regard to new students producing tasks for us? In the recent past, we received Adria tasks, Amber tasks, Gianni tasks; but this morning, again zero new tasks available, until Gerard jumped in and provided some (which might again be used up in a few hours). |

I am not sure what the impatience is. I mean I would love to have the new student "meet us" on the forums and tell us about themselves, but when it comes to work and tasks that don't fail, doesn't that come with time and learning the system a little? Do new students in the past usually just step into the school, write tasks, and have them work with no issues, or is being a student of anything usually have a learning curve over those that have been around for a long time? Just sayin'/askin'. 1 Corinthians 9:16 "For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" Ephesians 6:18-20, please ;-) http://tbc-pa.org |

I am not sure what the impatience is. I wouldn't call it impatience. It's just the desire for a little bit more information about what's going on at GPUGRID staff-wise. I would think that we crunchers simply deserve getting this kind of information, don't you agree? |

I am not sure what the impatience is. Especially when it seems that the project has big problems with staff... |

I am not sure what the impatience is. Nah, not really. They aren't staff, they are students. We are volunteers doing work that we know is valuable. The details of each and every work unit, student, and type of experiment are surely desirable, but not deserved. We've read the papers that got published, we know the work has dividends to the students and to science, computing methods, and health issues, and we accept to do that work. I think that is the end of expectations, at least for me. After that, its all eye candy and extra goodies. If a problem arises, I think there is a deserved answer and/or solution, but who the new student is and what the exact work they are achieving would only be 'desired', in my opinion. If there was an option on choosing in the options what 'type' of work we do on our pcs, like if we could only choose methods or only choose cancer, or something like that, then we would be deserving of knowing the details of the kind of work being done under that type maybe. Either way, I think desired, yes, but deserved, no. |

Nah, not really. Two crunchers - two opinions :-) |

I will have some simulations going this week hopefully, which will be again a bit brutal (it's the OPM again). That will be around 700 sims, plus another 700 soon after (maybe next week?) for a different forcefield. That should conclude my work on that paper. Also I am running some NTL9 simulations but these are a bit few (on purpose). Beyond that we have Pablo looking for an interesting project these days so I think he should soon have something to simulate. |

I would suggest that they be limited to GPUs with 2GB or more memory. They're dog slow on 1GB cards. Once again, we could use a 3rd queue for these long and demanding WUs. |

Hi Stefan, Did you intend to use minimum replication 2 at the outset or is that an error? I note that minimum qourum remains 1 so you are not replicating for redundancy |
