Extension needed for: e2s10_e1s45p1f256-GERARD_CXCL12_CHLCPUBCHEM_chalone4871-0-1-RND3094-0 I have this wu in process with near 83 hours and 40% complete. However deadline is 13th so I need extension to finish it as it won't be done in 48 hours, more like another five days max Thanks |

There's no way to extend the deadline. You should crunch only short runs on your GT720M. You can configure it in your profile. But I think the GT720M is simply too slow for this project. You should try POEM, or Einstein@home, SETI@home, Primegrid. They have much shorter workunits, with much longer deadlines. |

As I'm now at 46% I'll continue even if I get zero credits. I usually alternate between GPU short, Poem & Milkyway, but due to lack of GPU short units I decided to try a long one without realising they had short deadlines. I have since reset my profile. That they cannot be extended is unusual - I have seen it done easily on other projects. In general, maybe more could be done to encourage low-end graphics card volunteers. It is not necessarily to your long-term advantage to be exclusively high-end especially with the proliferation of alternative devices without the necessary capacity. |

Sorry, but this project doesn't extend deadlines. So, for a given app (long-runs or slow-runs), if your GPU can't finish a task within 5 days of being assigned, then you should edit your profile to not get tasks for that app. It's that simple. In fact, it's entirely possible that the server will stop sending you tasks for that app, once it figures out you can't complete them fast enough. :) |

As I'm now at 46% I'll continue even if I get zero credits. It doesn't make any sense to keep it running. As soon as it expires, another host will pick it up, most probably with a much faster GPU, and crunch it before you finish on it. So your effort will contribute nothing...

advice accepted, unit aborted but why the short deadlines? |

The short deadlines are because each WU is configured based on the results of a previous WU. If the deadlines were longer completing a full science run would take too long and there would also need to be many multiples more WUs. The science runs here are GPUGrid are quite targeted, they are not just fire-hosed hoping for a happy conclusion or to build information in a database Thanks - Steve |
