Is this the way it is supposed to run? I thought I would be using 4 cpu threads and 1 gpu thread. Just got the install to work today on Linux Ubuntu64,9800GT graphics card, and BOINC client 6.3.10. |

Currently it is set to use 1 CPU, although it only actually uses something like 4% or less of 1 CPU (or core). We are still studying which way has the best performance. Clients 6.3.14 and up will show you next to Running how much CPU/CUDA is allocated. If you want to run 4 CPU + 1 CPU/CUDA you can by using the ncpus+1 trick, amking BOINC think you have 5 CPU's. 1 CPU will ahve to share a little. See other threads which cover this. |

Thanks Keith I will surf some more....now the grid task has paused and am back to 4 CPU's...I intended it to run ncpu4+1gpu and let the gpu stand alone so I need to configure it I guess |

I should mention, if its not in the other threads, running ncpus+1 has a drawback. If your resource shares are too low for the GPU project, or the GPU project runs out of work, you will end up with 5 CPU tasks running, the drawback being 2 of them will be sharing a CPU core and not running at full speed. This may be OK for a short term, but if your are going to be out of GPU work for a long period you may want to go back to no ncpus setting. |
