You're talking about Seti right, they go down on a regular weekly basis and probably hit a snag and will come back up when they can. They are notorious for being non communicative about their problems in the past, since the same people are still in charge today I would not expect much said until they are back up again.

No, he's talking about BOINC - the place where all the documentation lives. The site is slowly crawling back to life, but essential parts of it are still broken.

I think all project admins should let the new BOINC Project Management Committee know what they think of this comment from yesterday:

The BOINC server's file system failed on Friday night,
and our sysadmins (Matt and Jeff) have managed to get most of the server functions,
including client download, working on another machine,
though there are still some issues with the MySQL database.

This was a wakeup call WRT server reliability.
We didn't have a plan for dealing with failures,
and it turns out we weren't even doing DB backups.
