Currently server will issue up to 4 WUs to a machine with 1 AMD and 1 NVIDIA card. Unless I keep max local work amount very low, this will cause GPUGRID WUs to be delayed by more than 24hrs and give less credit. Keeping low amount of local work interferes with other projects being run. Can you please not count AMD hardware when you query for number of GPUs available? thanks! |

I think you would just need the following lines in the cc_config.xml file: <exclude_gpu> <url>http://www.gpugrid.net/</url> <type>ATI</type> </exclude_gpu> The format is,
<url>project_URL</url> <device_num>N</device_num> <type>NVIDIA|ATI|intel_gpu</type> <app>appname</app> </exclude_gpu>

Trader should certainly try this, but I'm not convinced it helps. It's a setting for the local BOINC not to request work for GPU-Grid for this GPU. But BOINC still sees the GPU and happily runs other projects on it. So when the server asks how many GPUs it has I can imagine the AMD will be included. Trader, you could also try updating to BOINC 7.4.36. It fixes quite a few things and seems well-behaved, although I don't know if solves your issue. Interesting side note: my Intel GPU (which BOINC uses for Einstein) is not counted towards the GPU-Grid GPUs, with BOINC 7.4, 7.2 and any earlier ones I may have used. exclude gpu did not help, still getting 4 tasks. unfortunately, I'm not able to install a newer version of BOINC - there is some strange problem with windows installer not being able to recognize the package as belonging to the BOINC being installed. Have tried running some tools to fix it, but did not help... why does BOINC even need an installer... |

exclude gpu did not help, still getting 4 tasks. I was reading the other day it really doesn't, you just need to copy the right files into the right place and click it and go, there may have been a registry setting too, I'm not sure as I didn't understand alot of what the guy wrote as it was above my expertise. The discussion is here at PrimeGrid: http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=6104 Maybe it can help you, as I said it was waaay over my head. |
