Haven't gotten long or short GPU WU's for a coupledays now? Yeah Jacob Klein says they are cut to the bone on costs right now, I think they need to call Reb or Henri like you guys did. |

More than 500 GERARD_CXCL12_3GG workunits were submitted to the long queue. |

Haven't gotten long or short GPU WU's for a coupledays now? I have reached out to Henri about this. |

Haven't gotten long or short GPU WU's for a coupledays now? And after the calls for BU to be banned etc. on this forum I see some irony here. Thing is , it's still a community and I still choose to crunch whatever I want and continue to crunch both GPUGrid and BU. If a campaign is available on BU to help GPUGrid, I will crunch for that campaign. |

Haven't gotten long or short GPU WU's for a coupledays now? Mikey, I don't recall saying or implying anything at all, about GPUGrid costs. I said that GPUGrid is running on fumes (meaning: about out of tasks), when I was helping a user troubleshoot why they could not get GPUGrid tasks to run on all 3 of their GPUs - here: http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=3929&nowrap=true#39250 ... but I never said anything about GPUGrid costs. Did you misunderstand? |

Haven't gotten long or short GPU WU's for a coupledays now? Yes apparently so, I saw your post and the request for donations on the home page and put two and two together and got some idea they were linked. If that is not true I apologize for the jumping to conclusions! |

There is no relationship between my "running on fumes (meaning: about out of tasks)" comment, and the donation page/status. GPUGrid is taking donations, but I do not know any details about their monetary status. Let's return this thread back on-topic... I see we have some GPU tasks now, about 600 unsent on the long queue. The question is: How fast can we crunch through them :) I hope everyone has backup projects set, and a 7.4.36 client which correctly gets work from backup projects! http://www.gpugrid.net/server_status.php Happy holidays, Jacob |

Remember also that completed tasks here are used to automatically generate a follow-up task to continue the modelling from the point where the first user finished their stint. Even if there are no tasks showing as 'ready to send', the chances are that another user will return a task for regeneration within a few minutes at most. |

Now there are 5242 long GPU WUs in the queue. Nice. |

There are some more tasks to run now, but a couple of days ago it seemed they were out. At least all seems to be good now. I took this lack of work as an intensive to set up backup projects to crunch for, namely Einstein@Home, and GPUGrid short run tasks. (I would set up MilkyWay@Home as a backup as well, but it utilizes such a small percentage of my GPUs that it isn't worth the hassle, especially since it seems they [and/or my internet connection] can't send them to me fast enough to keep up with how fast my computer crunches through them.) I had just been using my GPUs to crunch four long run GPUGrid tasks simultaneously. This actually took quite a bit of work to set up and fine tune correctly for my needs, partly because I also host a few Minecraft servers on a virtual machine installed on a RAM drive, so I have to closely watch how I allocate and prioritize the use of various system resources. I had to go into each project's local settings including the config files and/or the settings on their sites, change project priorities around, and change the computing preferences settings. I'm glad I was able to set all this up in a way that satisfies me, but I wonder if some people with less technical know-how and patience would be willing to take these kinds of extra steps. There should be an easier way to fine tune all of these kinds of parameters within the BOINC Manager GUI itself. The lack of these kinds of settings isn't anyone's fault or anything like that; it's just something that needs to be implemented for ease of use for people donating system resources to BOINC and its various projects. If you are in the position to do so, please pass this along as I am not an outspoken or really even known member of the BOINC community. Which settings did you have trouble, or find tedious? How about you open a new thread, then PM me a link, and I'll work with you to see if anything can be done. I am available and listening. It should have been relatively easy to add projects, set resource share to 0, and set resources like "Use CPU" and "Use NVIDIA" appropriately. |

Thanks, Jacob. Much appreciated. I'll do as you suggest and PM you a link to the thread. It'll take me a little time to remember the specifics of what and why I changed what I did. In essence, it's mostly just that these settings and parameter changes are spread out in various places, so it would be more convenient if people didn't have to go and look up how and where to change them, but rather could just change them from the BOINC GUI.
