Hi, Some clarifications are in order in regards to the drop support of running boinc as a service in GPU scenarios. 1: What exactly is prohibiting this? In order to narrow down what the BOINC installer is dowing when "protected" is selected I have created the service after the installation has completed and the GPU detection has been verified. I've seen that simply creating a service using sc.exe or some other utility will result in a GPU emulation (the GPU is no longer found). Deleting the service will again enable GPU recognition without any re-installation needed. 2: When will 6.3.X GPU crunching support running as a service? It's not a viable situation to login and manually start the BOINC GUI in order to GPU-crunch. An autologin+autostart of BOINC GUI is also not an option, as that violates every security policy known. The problem seems to be how Vista handles the Video Card, somehow it is only available for the currently logged on user. |
