I'm surprised this new market entry has not been mentioned here. Yes, it's only available in Japan right now, but... My mobo has six PCIe slots. Four are taken up by two double-slot GPUs. "How about adding two of these for GPUGrid crunching?", I ask myself. If they will take as much OC as my EVGA GTX 750Ti, I would have the equivalent of two additional GTX 660s! Amazon Japan has it, here. I put one into my basket to see if they ship overseas, but my Amazon login, which works for France, UK and Stateside, was not known there. The 18.980 yen price translates to $176, £110, €140. I trust those prices will be lower when/if ELSA go worldwide. Some reactions here, and here. Perhaps a cruncher from Japan can comment here? |

I bought a bunch of GTS460 cards from ELSA when I was in Tokyo a couple of years ago. They tend to have a rather weak fan and can't keep themselves cool enough. The 750ti should be better as it doesn't produce as much heat but just something to watch for. BOINC blog |

For the price I think you're better off adding a single GTX970, which starts at 300€ (although availability is still scarce shortly after launch). It's got about 2.5 times the raw horse power of a GTX750Ti. Edit: and that single slot cooler doesn't look very capable or quiet, so I'd rather trust a card with one bigger cooler. I agree totally with ETA (MrS) buying cheap is mainly in the long run more expensive. Buy a decent card from a trusted brand you feel comfortably with and a good cooler. Availability of EVGA 970 and 980 is indeed a "problem". My money is burning in my hand....:) Greetings from TJ |
