Back in June a GTX760 OEM was released. In August two more OEM cards were released; another GTX760 OEM and a GTX760Ti. These cards are all GK104, use GDDR5 and are PCIe3.0 x16 capable. Wow, what a madness! I wouldn't mind an official GTX760 Ti OEM with a name like GTX765 (and probably slightly higher clocks to deserve that name), but since it's only OEM we can't buy this nice card anyway. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

On the surface it's mad; there is a 33% performance gap between the GTX770 and the GTX760. However, from a business point of view its ingenious; it's the very performance gap between the GTX770 and the GTX760 that will allow NVidia to sell off their remaining GTX670's, and the fact that there is nothing in the GTX700 series below the GTX760 allows them to continue production and gracefully wind up their mid-range GTX600 cards (GTX650 through to the GTX660Ti). At the same time you pay a premium for the GTX700 series, including the GTX760Ti OEM card, which will obviously keep OEM's very happy. For crunching the GTX670 and GTX660Ti are a bit faster than the GTX760, and the GTX670 and GTX660Ti cost less. Obviously good news for us. Conversely the GTX760 marginally outperforms the GTX660Ti when it comes to gaming - which is obviously where most of the sales will come from. Next year, before Maxwell turns up, we might see NVidia fill out the GTX700 series with high end cards such as a GTX760Ti (non-OEM)/GTX765 and possibly one or two dual GPU cards, and in the mid-range add the obvious GTX750Ti, GTX750, possibly some sort of Boost card and eventually add low end GTX740's and the like.
