Did something (I mean, in the PS3 database) happen to the team with ID=62 in the last days? I was trying to display the team details and have seen a bit of garbage - with note "Database Error" at the top of the zeroed page. [...] And no plain evil user should have powers to clear its credit. Thus IMO something other happened here too. Or did the admins already played games with the DB?

I did not express myself precisely: it might be a coincidence, that someone created the UBT team again, it might be his/her intentional step after the fraud... But except someone having direct access to the physical database (project admin, some technical event or software bug) there is currently no known way a fraudalent user could completely reset (founder, members, info, credit, etc.) or even damage a team. And the team with ID=62 seems to be damaged.

So what's this?

# Remove team
Allowed only if team has no members

admittedly, this is from the seti@home team admin page but I would think the same applies to PS3Grid.

It applies to CPDN and Einstein as well as Seti. I suspect it is Boinc wide feature.

If you are founder you can remove the team once you have got rid of the unwanted members. Quite possibly deleting a team leaves a damaged entry in the database.

This seems to be a case of sabotage rather than fraud but either way credit restoration would be the right thing to do. I see that UBT is back & running with most of its members back on board but rather a lot of credit missing.

OK, well, you've got me :-) I've forgot this eventuality - team founder can really delete his team. I've also deleted a bunch of them in the past during the testing.

So, I apologize and take my words back: the founder can reset & damage his team.

ok,
so you have got ownership back already.
I will add 1.7M credits to the database for the UK BOINC team.
I have heard from Anderson that it is working on a fix for the future.

Thank you.
It is refreshing to see a project admin listen to the users and do the right thing for some unfortunate genuine supporters of the project.
More CPU cycles coming the way of this project from me soon.

Hi GDF,

Thank you SO MUCH, for taking the time to investigate this problem and to have made some time available in your schedule to make a fix.

I sincerely hope that other crunchers on PS3grid recognise your helpful and positive attitude and that they can have full confidence in continuing to crunch data for you on ps3grid.

On behalf of UBT and all of it's 2,000 or so members, please accept my sincerest best regards for your prompt and efficient assistance.

Hi GDF,

Thank you SO MUCH, for taking the time to investigate this problem and to have made some time available in your schedule to make a fix.

This was indeed a prompt reaction to the situation!

Anyway, GDF, what's the outcome of the investigation, if it is somehow clear? Was it the "usual case of missed team foundership takeover request", or rather something BOINC-web-SW related (in conjunction with the recently reported BOINC web interface vulnerabilities)?

I have heard from Anderson that it is working on a fix for the future.

Thanks Gianni

Lets hope they can fix it before it happens again.
