The task is running on a desktop that is mostly seeding a few torrents and that I'm seldom using actively, so the GPU is mostly free/ This task says 0.171 CPU + 1 GPU whatever that means. The GPU is: NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 which is all I need for what I do. The CPU is I7-930, and w/24GB DRAM over half of which is generally idle. CPU usage generally is well less than 10% So why is this project giving me a task that can't complete in time? I assume I should just kill it off but decided to post here. DistRTgen has no problem running on this machine's GPU or CPU, but right now it isn't getting new tasks to give this project a chance. |

Dear Barton, your GT 430 is not powerfull enough to finish long WUs in time. Please try short WUs on the short runs, which should make it! In your GPUGRID Account go to GPUGRID Preference and select: ACEMD short runs (2-3 hours on fastest card) for CUDA 4.2: yes everything else: no So your card should get the appropiete WUs and finish in time. |

Thanks, but... I looked in all the buttons BOINC gives me and can't find the controls you refer to, so in BOINC on the left side when I've selected this project, and I click YOUR ACCOUNT and get to a GPUGRID page (that can also get me to this forum) and I can see the two computers I have used recently for BOINC projects, but I again see no controls for this computer that you were trying to get me to. Is that some central place that changes what tasks I will get for any computer I use, or just the one I'm having problems with? I could run GPUGRID on the other computer which has this card: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (1024MB) driver: 320.49 but is that faster or slower than this other computer's 430? The bad part of using the other computer is that I'm on it many hours of the day so the GPU would nut be idle then. I'll update the 530's driver to the latest but I suppose that won't help with my problem. |

Your GeForce 9500 GT won't work at GPUGrid; the architecture is too old (G96 is CC1.1). Minimum compute requirement is CC1.3. FAQ's HOW TO: - Opt out of Beta Tests - Ask for Help |
