jjwhalen, the upload issue you are having probably rests with your ISP or your router/computer's IP/DNS info.
Either your bandwidth is being throttled by your ISP or you need to refresh the IP/DNS info; restart router, and from a command line use,

ipconfig -flushdns

If the issue was with the GPUGrid server then it would impact upon more users, including myself, and I upload a task in a few minutes.

When the upload file size is reduced to around 30MB it will take around 1/3rd of the time to upload. Obviously this won't increase your upload rate, but it would ease the situation, as the overall time to upload would drop. Perhaps your ISP will no longer think you are file sharing/gaming online (if that's the issue) and will allow for faster connections to the GPUGrid server. ISP's impose all sorts of caps on Internet usage. Finding out what they actually are is time consuming and often futile as they change their terms as and when they see fit.

Upload rates are often substantially lower than download rates. For example, my download is >60Mbps but my upload is <3Mbps. So this is good news for most of us.

I have a similar problem, so it is not just one user. I have run this project for a long time, and I have just noticed this problem in the last week. I don't get a reduced upload speed, but get several breaks in communication, i.e. around 10-20 for a WU, which cause boinc to backoff and my machine to idle, because it can't get new work before the previous is uploaded. This has not been a problem before or with other projects. I can rule out ISP and router problems.

It sounds like you're experiencing a routing issue.
If you run a trace root from the command line it might tell you where the issue lies.

Sorry, for the delay in response, I've been away.

Like most folks I have asymmetrical file transfer service: download @12~14Mbps with burst for large files, & upload @4~6Mbps (bits not Bytes), raw data.

Over the past five years, across thirteen BOINC projects, I've noted result file upload throughput nearly always above 150KBps, sometimes 2-3 times that. This includes CPDN, which uploads large intermediate result files (~26MB) daily. It also included GPUGRID until a couple of months ago. (<30min to upload a long queue result used to be typical for me.)

5KBps to GPUGRID and 200~300KBps to 4 other projects simultaneously over several hours does not suggest a chokepoint at my end of the route.

I recently ran 3 traceroutes to the IP provided. All were ~220ms at the distant end, over 18-19 hops. Not great but not too bad. Times to the end of my ISP's segment of the route were 10~12ms. Traceroute test packets, however, are not the same as file data transfer packets that the server must process instead of throwing away.

I reiterate that this is not the first thread in this forum to raise the upload speed issue.

shauge reported a similar problem here, and that's 2 datapoints. I suspect there are others who haven't followed this thread and/or haven't bothered to report.

File transfer problems do not necessarily affect all users at all times.

It might be worth asking the community to "please report if you are experiencing slow resultfile uploads." You may be surprised at the response.
