They're only talking about gaming. Linux wasn't that different from Win regarding CUDA performance anyway.

For GPUGrid, Linux has been slightly faster (1 to 3%) than XP for years and XP was about 11% (and up depending on settings) faster than W7.
However, I think this is no longer the case, at least for GF600 cards.
From what I can see Linux is sometimes slightly faster, albeit only 2 or 3%, but on other occasions W7 is faster and there seems to be no difference between W7 and XP. That said, there are many types of tasks, systems and some tasks have significant duration variation - so it's difficult to measure/compare accurately. Also, with no information in Stderr output I can't see the clock speeds. This throws doubt on any observations as some FOC cards are around 17% faster than reference models. Then there are other potential factors such as CPU usage (saturation), speed, RAM speed, single/double/triple or quad channel, and drive speeds (primary IDE, SSD, RAM even)...
