After reading and implementing the suggested settings to maximize the utilization of the GPU, it continues to achieve less than 90% utilization most of the time on Windows 7. Swan_Sync = 0 CPU - i7 920 @ 3.7GHz Win 7 x64 GTX 570 @ 940 MHz All of the temps are fine and usually the GPU is at 75% - 81% utilization. On my Win XP system, the GPU is typically 98%. Should the Win 7 machine be setup for dual boot to Ubuntu for better performance? What is the typical GPU utilization on Linux? Thank you |

Hello: The Linux command to view the activity NVIDIA is " nvidia-smi -a " but unfortunately now does not work for some versions of drivers and displays the information of the% use of GPUs. If anyone knows the solution are interested to know. Greetings. |

After reading and implementing the suggested settings to maximize the utilization of the GPU, it continues to achieve less than 90% utilization most of the time on Windows 7. Many people have tested the performance on Windows 7. Here there's a talk about it. Should the Win 7 machine be setup for dual boot to Ubuntu for better performance? I had a dual boot long ago and was a pain in the... I recommend you boot from a USB. I didn't try this, but running in memory could be faster than on hard disk. And you avoid dual boot too. What is the typical GPU utilization on Linux? You can compare performance from other people who has Linux. The thing is on Linux you can even uninstall every service on the system, so if you want just you distro to crunch you can. This is why it's always going to run faster. Here there are some benchmarks. HOW TO - Full installation Ubuntu 11.10 |
