Which version of BOINC do you use?
You'll need a version > 6.3.5 to use your GPU for BOINC.
The newest version is now 6.3.8 and can be downloaded here.

But I just saw you use Vista 64, so you'll have to wait for a new BOINC version because on BOINC 6.3.8 the client is crashing at startup...

Does BOINC recognize the coprocessor?

At BOINC startup you should see something like

CUDA devices found
Coprocessor: GeForce ...

in the messages tab of the BOINC Manager.

I think I read that 6.3.10 contains the fix. 6.3.9. was already too far when the fix arrived.

Guess we'll have to wait for the next version... ;)

BOINC is now running, but it doesn't recognize the coprocessor and GPU tasks error out immediately.

It only shows -
CUDA devices found
Coprocessor: device emulation (CPU)(1)

which seems not right to me...

Anyway, I just sent a bug report to BOINC Alpha and GDF, let's see what they can do for us.

On XP 32 I also had my WUs fail within a minute, but using driver 177.35 seems to have solved it (see seperate thread). Maybe that could help you guys as well?

I don't think so.
BOINC should show a GTX260 and not the device emulation on my computer...
I think there's still something wrong with the CUDA detection on Vista64.

Yeah that means it's trying to use software (CPU) to run the CUDA prog :(

I am havving this same issue, is there any way to get this right?

I have driver version 177.92 With an 8600GT GPU.

The Folding@Home GPU client seems to work just fine on this setup

Yup, Vista64, could this be the problem?
