When installing NVidia drivers it is recommended to perform a clean / fresh installation each time. It is Not recommended to update to the latest drivers. For crunching there is usually no need to update the drivers. If there is it will be announced in the forum, and will be to facilitate a new application. Yes, especially, but for Linux you have to manually uninstall first, GPU FAQ: HOW TO install NVIDIA drivers on Linux 64 bit With Windows the installation application has an option to perform a clean install; remove previous drivers first. Most people don't bother, but they should, especially if they have already installed several updates. When starting the installation choose advanced and then choose clean installation.
