Is it possible to download only 1 task? Even if I tell BOINC 6.12.34 to only use 1 GPU it will still download 4 tasks. I tested that a couple of days ago. And if I get my app_info.xml file to work I (might) only want 1 task at a time or I miss my 24 hour bonus. With 2 GPU's I already have to use my slower GTX-550TI (my other GPU being a GTX-570) to get the 4 wu's crunched within 24 hours which leaves almost no time for other projects to crunch. And I only want to use my GTX-570 to crunch GPUGrid wu's. With version 7.0.15 and the <exclude_gpu> tag it also downloaded more than 2 tasks even when I excluded the GTX-550TI from running GPUGrid. So is downloading 1 task possible with a setting somewhere in one of the .xml files (like cc_config.xml, etc.) or any other file? Anthony. The longer I live, the more reasons I develop for wanting to die. |

If you go into your Computing preferences under the 'network usage' section there is the following line 'Maintain enough work for an additional' if you leave that blank, it will only download a new task once the current one is finished. Unfortunately this is a universal selection, you cannot do it by project so this means that ALL Boinc tasks that you run will only download a new task once the current one is finished. not really problem if your computer has internet access 24/7, a bit of a PITA if you don't. |

You could, as a last resort, get your 1 task running by way of my previous suggestion, then select 'don't allow new tasks' for GPUGrid. then go back and change the maintain enough work for additional' to a higher amount to try and get SETI tasks. That would keep you safe from additional GPUGRID downloads. only problem being you have to then change everything around when you need another GPUGrid task. very much a PITA solution. I'm sure someone smarter than I can come up with an easier solution. |
