My gtx570 is showing 99.5% done but 52 hours has elapsed. Should I abort this task? This system runs boinc 24/7 and is not used for anything else. quad core with 3 cpus assigned. Other long runs all seem to to fit into the 12 hour range as shown here |

This seems to be off indeed. Maybe due to a GPU downclock. I would recommend a system restart to see if this fixes things. Kind regards Alain |

My GTX570's only take about 4.5 hrs on a NATHAN_CB, but they are factory overclocked running on Win7. Even without that, I wouldn't think they should take more than 5 or 6 hours in any case on the GTX570. I would guess something is wrong or hung up. |

Something very wrong is in your system. If it was downclocked to 2D, NATHAN_CB1 tasks should take about 9 - 10 hours. My recommendantions: - make new clear installation of GPU driver, - install something to check GPU temeperature / controll GPU fan and core clock (e.g. MSI afterburner). Note: My weak GTX560Ti (OCed to 890MHz, Win XP 64bit) runs these tasks about 6:45 - 7:00 hours. |

Something strange is going on. I rebooted this system and all the times changed I am running bionc 7.03, maybe the problem is there. I cannot account for how the connect time went from 2d6h down to 12h after a reboot. Also, I noticed that collatz got a time slice following the reboot but then primegrid then started up only a few minutes after collatz. Somthing is not being reported correctly to boinctask or it is not calculating the elapsed time correctly. I do see that 84c is being reported, I will check and see if it is being throttled. EDIT - Throttleing occurs at 90c and I do not recall seeing any temps that high. It would be nice if boinctasks would alert if remote system is being or had to be throttled. Throttling is being done by eFmer's tthrottle. |

The drivers can also downclock the GPU, if it's too warm or too many amps are being used... I think this is happening rather than TThrottle kicking in at 90degC. You can use GPU-Z to see what the GPU clocks are at and use one of several tools to increase fan speed. For the task to be taking that long it would need to have downclocked right down to ~100MHz, which it can do. You should also set Prefer Maximum performance in NVidia Control Panel. Try upgrading to the current BOINC (7.0.14 as I write this) seeing as you are running an alpha version. Also upgrade BOINCtasks to 1.30 if you haven't already. I have seen issues with BT 1.25 talking to 7.x clients that seems to be fixed. BOINC blog |
