BOINC doesn't seem to actually start GPUGRID tasks, and I'm not sure how long this has been the case on my machine. My computer has a GTX 260 and is running Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) 64-bit with the standard versions of all the relevant software from the repositories. That means BOINC 6.12.33 with proprietary NVIDIA driver 280.13 (Linux-x86_64). My event log looks like this: Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Starting BOINC client version 6.12.33 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Config: report completed tasks immediately Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Config: GUI RPC allowed from: Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Libraries: libcurl/7.21.6 OpenSSL/1.0.0e zlib/1.2.3.4 libidn/1.22 librtmp/2.3 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Data directory: /var/lib/boinc-client Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Processor: 6 AuthenticAMD AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor [Family 16 Model 10 Stepping 0] Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Processor: 512.00 KB cache Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc rep_good nopl nonstop_tsc extd_apicid aperfmperf pni monitor Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | OS: Linux: 3.0.0-14-generic Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Memory: 7.81 GB physical, 3.72 GB virtual Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Disk: 29.35 GB total, 18.70 GB free Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Local time is UTC -8 hours Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 260 (driver version unknown, CUDA version 4000, compute capability 1.3, 896MB, 537 GFLOPS peak) Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | A new version of BOINC is available. Download it. Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1655761; resource share 100 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | GPUGRID | URL http://www.gpugrid.net/; Computer ID 104252; resource share 1000 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | General prefs: from http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ (last modified 22-Nov-2009 00:58:33) Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Host location: none Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | General prefs: using your defaults Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Reading preferences override file Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Preferences: Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | max memory usage when active: 7999.65MB Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | max memory usage when idle: 7999.65MB Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | max disk usage: 18.82GB Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | | Not using a proxy Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task CMD2_2180-1N10_A.clustersOccur-2R71_A.clustersOccur_8_1 using hcmd2 version 640 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task qb158_00065_14 using hpf2 version 640 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task CMD2_2184-1M6B_A.clustersOccur-2JC2_C.clustersOccur_2_1 using hcmd2 version 640 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task DSFL_00000082_0000022_0173_1 using dsfl version 619 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task qb161_00069_4 using hpf2 version 640 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:20:38 PM PST | World Community Grid | Restarting task CMD2_2184-1M6B_A.clustersOccur-1UPK_A.clustersOccur_40_1 using hcmd2 version 640 Sun 11 Dec 2011 08:28:41 PM PST | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. At first I thought I might have done something stupid, like suspended the project temporarily and forgotten to reset it. But the status field under projects is blank. As you can see from the computer's page, it hasn't been working for a long time. That's because my computer's PSU died during the Thanksgiving break, and the new one took a long time to arrive. This one *should* be more than powerful enough to run everything if the per-rail amp ratings are right, though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Uh, I just proofread that and I didn't mean "reset" in the last paragraph there. I meant resume. |

Have you got the "use gpu always" override enabled? If you have it set to use prefs, what do the prefs have set? BOINC blog |

I can't believe I did that, I had put it on "suspend GPU activity" while the PSU was dying and forgot to re-enable it afterwards. It was just a stupid mistake on my part, though it seems weird that it doesn't show up in the event log. Thanks. |

Well the main thing is you got it going and you'll know what to look for next time :-) BOINC blog |
