While there are ways to overclock for a Linux setup these not easy or recommended. Unfortunately there is a distinct lack of GPU tools for Linux; Monitoring, fan control and overclocking tools are all missing and badly needed. You would think the millions of Linux gamers might be crying out for such tools, but they don't! FAQ's HOW TO: - Opt out of Beta Tests - Ask for Help |

Simple. Hi, In Linux you can OC the GPU from Nvidia. To succeed you must activate the option to OC Nvidia GPUs in Linux, using the option: "Coolbits" allows the shader OC only but is necessary for Nvclock work well (see the end). To activate Coolbits do the following: 1 .- The first is to add an option in the video card section in the xorg to this, open the text editor with the following command in console: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf 2 .- We're setting in the document until you find something like this: Section "Device" Identifier "Default Device" Option "NoLogo" "True" EndSection Where to add the following line: Option "Coolbits" "1" For Ubuntu 11.10 - Note: In any case, the file "xorg.conf" has to be so. Section "Device" Identifier "Default Device" Option "Coolbits" "1" Option "NoLogo" "True" EndSection 3 .- Restart X or reboot the computer rather better. 4 .- Open the NVIDIA X Server Settings and have a section again! where we enable OC and the speed we want. We can also install: Nvclock0.8b4 is a program that is in the repositories (nvclock-gtk)of Ubuntu 11.10 and allows both the Shaders OC as in the fan, but first you must activate Coolbits to work Nvclock. NOTE: You can only control a card or GPU in the dual. |

I have lastest nvidia installed. And my OS is gentoo x64. But xorg.conf remains the same for all linux distro. Coolbit should enable an "overclocking" option in nvidia-settings. But with 470 & 480, it doesn't work. |

I have lastest nvidia installed. And my OS is gentoo x64. But xorg.conf remains the same for all linux distro. Hello: Well, it seems that does not allow OC Fermi Linux. What I could find is that it is waiting for an updated Nvidia driver that allows current "Coolbits" in its various options, sorry. |
