Hi, I'm wondering if there's some special meaning behind the WU names. I'm seeing names such as TONI, NATHAN, MJHARVEY, etc. These sound like people names so am I correct in assuming that a WU with one of the names is meant for a person of the GPUGRID project? I know there's a Toni (mod and developer) around here so are the TONI WUs all for him or am I just imagining stuff? :D Thanks |

Yes, these are the names of the researchers, and it's no coincidence that TONI tasks are created by Toni. As well as Nathan, MJHarvey and Toni, Gianni and Ignasi also create tasks (GIANNI, IBUCH). Along side the researchers name, you can see a workunit tag such as *EGF* within the task name. This relates to the research, and you can read a little about the various research projects, in the Science section. FAQ's HOW TO: - Opt out of Beta Tests - Ask for Help |

Hm i have a question to that too. I tried to find out what the Author Nathan works on (all other names are clearly declared on website), like the WU from this: http://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=4750028 Because on the 560TI i only get this WU Type. So i hope to get something like cancer oder brain desease researches, cos to much people and dogs i know died on this. But cant find the shortnames like EGR and so on in this. On the other 2 or 3 slower cards i get nearly only HIV short Tasks. So i hope at least one card in my grid computing computes for my favorite project ^^ DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at

Nate, 17th Dec 2011, "Hi all, I have submitted 1000 new workunits to the long queue. The simulations focus on the receptor CB1, and with them we hope to gain some insights that will have important implications for a wide range of diseases, including several neurological disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, pain, and cancer." As pointed out, this CB1 receptor research has implications in several fields of research including neuro, GIT, Pain and Cancer research. WRT cancer, CB1 is important in many different types of cancer. So the elucidation of it's function, and structural changes during molecular interactions will be of great importance in developing treatment strategies and drug combinations. Your linked WU, Name I5R45-NATHAN_CB1_1-17-125-RND3477_2 is one of these CB1 tasks. Nate is the newest member of the GPUGrid research team, and has yet to publish.
