Hi: I'm using Windows 7 in the last (as always) and work perfet 285.62 with my GTX 295.

In Linux (Ubuntu11.10) I have also installed the latest 280.13. Greetings.

I am using Windows XP 32 bits and the duration with driver 285.xx is more then 24 hrs per wu. That is too long (in my opinion).

Hi: GTX295 With the time it takes for a long-not more than 15 hours maximum (no OC) with Linux, Windows XP would not take much longer.

Perhaps the problem is in how you set the Power Management on XP and lower performance CPU and GPU. Greetings.

Ton, the drivers must be putting your GTX295 into low power mode.
Until a new application is released with a fix to this all you can do is try the following:

Keep it cool. Use a tool such as MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision to make the fans run faster.
Keep an eye on the clocks. If you see the clocks drop, restart your system.
It might help to reduce the GDDR Frequency a bit.
I would also suggest that you turn the screen saver off and configure your operating system to never turn off the monitor.

Good luck,

Kev, it is not only the 295 card that has problems with the latest driver(s).

All my cards are standard, so no oc etc.

I do not use any screensaver, but i put out my monitors.
The fans are running fine (fast).

GPU uses 60 - 75% at the most.

Restart - also done!

So, just bad luck?

60 to 75% GPU utilization is typical for W7 rather than XP.
Do you have a free CPU core/thread on each system?
If you do not then you will be starving the GPU of CPU time.

The only thing I can suggest is to try reducing the GDDR Frequency on the GTX295, say by 10 or 15%.

Due to the errors I would also suggest not crunching for any CPU projects on the GTX295 system, and keep/set the advanced Processor Usage preference 'While processor usage is less than' to 25%. If you still have the failures select to not crunch when the system is in use, but do use LAIM.
