Any one care to post a tutorial on how to install BOINC and Drivers on Linux?
I want to get my machine on ps3grid, but I am not familiar with Linux at all. I downloaded BOINC and drivers, but don't know what to do with them to install it.

The following assumes you have Ubuntu installed. Other distro's will vary slightly, but the process is more or less the same.

First to install drivers, the easiest way to do it is to use an application called Envy. To use it, first you have to install it. Here's what to do:

If you are using Ubuntu, open synaptic package manager and search for envy. Install it and the dependencies.

On other distro's you should be able to apt-get install envy
When installed (again on Ubuntu), go to Applications>System Tools and select Envy.

Uninstall any Nvidia drivers using the tool, reboot if it asks, then install Nvidia drivers using the tool again.

It may be necessary to adjust the screen size. Use Applications>Other>Screens and Graphics to adjust (install that from System>Preferences>Main Menu if not installed).

If all is well, you should now have the drivers installed and access to Nvidia X Server Settings from the System>Admininstration menu.

Now to install Boinc. Depending on your installation, this may vary a little. On this project I have only clean installed, so your experience may differ.

Copy the installation .sh file to a suitable directory of your choice. Open a terminal window and enter sh boinc_ubuntu_6.3.5_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

That will unpack Boinc and copy all the necessary files into a new BOINC directory where you copied the .sh script. Notice how you have a message in the terminal window something like "Use runmanager to run boinc manager".

Navigate to the newly installed BOINC folder. In all other Linux distributions of Boinc I have found that executing runmanager is sufficient to start Boinc. In ths pre-release version I have found the one has to execute Boinc first. Here's what to do:

Double click in "Boinc"
Double click on "Runmanager". Click on "Run" from the pop-up window. You should be greeted with the normal simple view window and a pop-up attach to project window. From there you're home and dry - attach and crunch away.

To better manage your GPU card, install nvclock and set "coolbits" "1" in your xorg.conf file.
