I'm running this on my multi-project computer, and although it's running on a far higher resource share as betas usually do it's always waiting for a CPU to be available. It didn't start as soon as I DLed the WU, it's paused just now. Is this the expected behaviour? Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

OK, that's fine for now but could be improved if the app would only need some CPU and not an entire one. My system is not at full load while running GPUgrid, see this screen shot from my system: What's worse imho is that the CPU used at all is diverted not only to the 4 currently running apps but to Xorg as well. Xorg gets between 5 and 20% of the CPU resources, and the computer gets a bit unresponsive. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

Thanks Saenger. It is a known "problem" that Xorg takes up some CPU if you use you computer, and this is something which should be improved in newer versions of the application, but as far as I understand it, Xorg will always need some CPU for the app... I think that's also the problem why not all CPUs are under full load. Actually gpugrid does use 100% of a core, but I guess this comes because of latency times in the kernel when Xorg kicks in and requests CPU time from the running BOINC projects applications... pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

Just to inform you: My first WU has just been validated and granted credit. It was done on this puter, and it got more than average credit (40 C/h) which is fine since it used not only the CPU but the GPU as well. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |
