I overclocked my GTX 260 from stock (core/shader/memory = 626/1350/1053) to a decent overclock (core/shader/memory = 700/1507/1281.) Could this be the cause of numerous computation errors?

Yes. There is no need to OC the memory, it makes little or no difference. I would also suggest you just OC the shaders, and not the core. 1500MHz shaders might be OK for a GTX260, but a 700MHz core is likely to have issues.
