I am doing a acemdlong on my machine, but every time I shutdown and start BOINC, acemdlong starts from zero. Is this normal? If so, how could I switch to a task that doesn't require continuous uptime? Thanks. |

No, it's not normal, Your task should resume from its last checkpoint, I can't at this point tell you the reason why it isn't doing so. Your 9600GT is not a suitable card for this project, you'll not finish tasks in the alloted time. Radio Caroline, the world's most famous offshore pirate radio station. Great music since April 1964. Is there a certain time in which the calculations must be completed? I see elapsed time and time remaining. Is time remaining refering to the time in which the calculations MUST be completed, not to the approximate time remaining until completion? If so, can I choose smaller tasks or should I just give up on this project ? |

Is there a certain time in which the calculations must be completed? The deadline column in BOINC manager is when it must be completed by, however GPUgrid will send it to another host if you haven't returned it within 3 days. They use the results from one run to make the next lot of work units, so they are time critical. As mentioned above the 9800 and 8800 series cards are really too slow for this project, certainly for the "long" work units. They could be of more use on Einstein or Seti. The home page mentions which cards are suitable, mostly the high-end GTX400 and GTX500 series cards. BOINC blog |

Do you have your Preferences set to >>> Leave tasks in memory while suspended? (suspended tasks will consume swap space if 'yes') yes <<< If not the Tasks will start from 0 every time you Exit BOINC ... It's something you could try if you have it set to No now ... |
