Hi all ! There is something that I can't understand: The two systems which are described below in my signature and whose crunching performance you can see in account, show a difference that I was not expected. Not that cc_config.xml is the same on both systems. Differences are : AMD Phenom X4 @2GHz used at 60% max and 0.16% of a CPU for 1 GPU (460OC) AMD Phenom II X6 @2.8 Ghz used at 50% max and 0.12% of a CPU for 1 GPU (460SO) The GTX460SO is supposed to be faster than the 460OC... Linux is supposed to give more performance than Win 7... So why are the credits on Linux much under those on Win7 ? The execution times are MUCH shorter on Win 7 configuration and oas a consequence (?) , on Win 7 I get about 52000 each time but on Linux I get around 42000 !!! Did I missed something ? Firstly you need to be comparing like-for-like tasks. That said, something is wrong with your Linux configuration/optimization; it is taking between about 105K and 170K sec per task, while your Windows system is taking between 67K and 104K sec per task. Are you freeing up a CPU core on Boinc? - Configure Boinc to use 87% CPU. Is the GPU downclocking (Running at 400 or 500MHz)? Win 7 should be at least 11% slower than Linux, perhaps 15%. If tasks take more than 24h to be returned they will miss the 50% bonus and end up with a 25% bonus, up until 48h when they will not get a bonus. |

Thanks for your answer skgiven
No , on both systems, I use all CPUs for World Community Grid
Boinc is told to use all CPUs on both systems and Maximum CPU % for graphics is actually set at 20 in my account but this is for both systems because there is actually no separate account for each system ! How do I configure this for each system . If this is in cc_config.xml , which parameter is it ? Is the GPU downclocking (Running at 400 or 500MHz)? No, X server Settings panel shows : Performance level 3 (Graphics@815Mhz/Memory@2000Mhz/Processor@1630Mhz) in 'Adaptive' mode. For the moment , I changed 'Adaptive' to 'max performance' and will see... Thansks for your time Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS x64 |

FYI : The GTX460OC shows 336 cores Graphics@715Mhz/Memory@1800Mhz/Processor@1430Mhz The GTX460SO shows 336 cores Graphics@815Mhz/Memory@2000Mhz/Processor@1630Mhz I never apply any OC on CPU/GPU or whatever... Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS x64 |

Hi ! Next for the 460OC vs 460SO story: max perf level did not change anything for the 460SO under Linux . I freed a CPU and setted swan_sync on Linux: the card is now a little better than the one on Win7 with no wan_sync and all CPUs busy for WCG. I'll wait until this card reaches the RAC of the one on Win7 and then set the same (CPU and swan_sync) on Win 7... I keep you in touch. Lubuntu 16.04.1 LTS x64 |

Hi, In Linux (Ubuntu 11.04 Natty 64bit-i7 930) performance is 15 to 20% (as tasks) than Windows 7.64bits. Working with the two systems and I've checked several times to both Fermi and GTX200 GPU. (AMD do not know). Greetings. |

jlhal, under Linux it has to be SWAN_SYNC=0 performance is 15 to 20% (as tasks) than Windows 7.64bits. Performance is 20% that of Win7 (1/5 as fast), 20% faster or 20% slower? |
