Please post your results here. Be sure to give the make/model of your graphics card and any other pertinent or helpful info. Peace! Happy Crunching

I got successful runs since a few weeks on the hidden test project... ;) http://www.ps3grid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4674 has a Q6600 @ 2.63 Ghz, 4GB DDR2 800, a EVGA 9800 GTX SC and is running Fedora 9 64bit with the 173.14.09 nvidia drivers . Runtimes are about 35.000 seconds per WU... http://www.ps3grid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4675 has a Q6600 @ 2.7 Ghz, 2GB DDR2 800, a Gainward 8800 GT and is running Ubuntu 7.10 64bit with 169.12 nvidia drivers. Runtimes are about 45.000 seconds per WU... And I'm thinking about to buy parts for a new computer with Q9300 and a new GTX 260 craphics card which should be a pretty nice GPU for crunching... Costs for all parts would be about €700.- pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

http://www.ps3grid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5608 has an AMD x2 x64 6000+ 4GB DDR2 667MHz with a Zotac 8800GT AMP! edition running Ubuntu 8.04 with 177.13 nvidia drivers. Average time is about 42,000 seconds. (or about 11hours 45 minutes) http://www.ps3grid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=5727 Is a Q6600 4GB DDR2 800MHz sli memory (not working in sli mode, stupid ASUS mobo), with an OCZ 8800GTX running Ubuntu 8.04 with Nvidia 177.13 drivers. Average time is about 45,500 Seconds (or about 12 hours 50 minutes, kind of difficult to tell as run times are all over the place) Down with the Kredit Kops!!! |

23 hour on xp32 with a 9600gt and 177.35 vs 17 hour on linux64 with the same utilisation Same situation for me but smaller gap 22 hours on XP32 SP2 with a 8800 GTS320MB VS 19 hours on linux64 UBUNTU I think linux is lighter than windows |

I suppose no news is good news for such a cutting-edge project. I have Fedora 8 with kernel 2.6.25.11-60.fc8.x86_64. I installed the latest BOINC 6.3.8 and attached to this project. The WU I first received is running OK and it must be using the graphics card. I know this because my 2D desktop performance goes to crap when BOINC is crunching. I have an NVIDIA Geforce 8600 GT. I know it's a slow card, but it's the best I have for now. Oh, and my driver version is 173.14. So, I guess my point was that this project worked "out of the box" for me. Hopefully, this WU will finish before the deadline. |

My first unit finished in 48,109 seconds. http://www.ps3grid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6998 I'm running Kubuntu Intrepid (upcoming 8.10) with a Gainward 9800GT (driver 177.13) on Intel C2Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, 2GB PC6400 Unfortunately the Nvidia driver dialog shows the card is running only at 600MHz Core and 500MHz RAM, the shader speed I can't see... Memory should run 900MHz, so I'm not sure if not the shaders are also running under the specified frequency of 1500MHz. edit: nvclock -i -f shows the shader as running with 1512MHz, so that shouldn't be the problem... |

23 hour on xp32 with a 9600gt and 177.35 vs 17 hour on linux64 with the same utilisation Same problme, but on XP64! The WU take 13h35 on XP and 10h20 on Ubuntu. I run the project with this hardware: Q9450 8GB RAM GTX 260 Nothing is overcclock, i just disable all the processors parameters in the bios (EIST, C1E, Thermal Monitor and Virtualisation). Well I guess I should unhide myself. I've been hiding on the alpha test project mostly on the windows host testing side. I've got 3 computers running with GPU's all at factory settings. All are running BOINC version 6.3.8 for Windows32 *Windows XP32 on 3.8GHZ P4-HT with XFX PVT88PYDE4 8800GT @ 632MHz 512MB 112SP - NVIDIA 169.21 - 680W Power supply *Windows XP32 on 3.0GHz P4-HT with XFX PVT88PYDF4 8800GT @ 601MHz 512MB 112SP - NVIDIA 169.21 - 600W power supply *Windows XP32 on 3.0GHz P4-HT with XFX PVT88PYDF4 8800GT @ 601MHz 512MB 112SP - NVIDIA 169.21 - 600W power supply

Could it be that the Linux app is x64 but the windows one is x86??? I know on some projects (i.e primegrid sieve) the x64 app is faster than the x86 one. I did try ps3grid on Windows x64, normally the workunit takes just over 12 hours on linux. However on Windows about the 11 hour 45 minute mark, it about 70% done, and it crashed not long after that :( Down with the Kredit Kops!!! |
