you should not link directly to boincsoftware download, because 6.10.36 is old, maybe a link to the downloadarea (32/64bit and OS) would be nice.

Agreed. The normal download target would be http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php, which should detect the OS in use and automatically supply the recommended version (currently v6.10.58) for your platform.

Unless there is a specific reason for this project being out of line?

There was a reason before, in the sense that we use to suggest what worked.
Many new boinc releases for gpu did not work.
Maybe now we can simply link the latest one as you suggest.
