We need a thread to capture some real world results of GTX480 and GTX470 performance on GPUGrid.

Please include CPU/speed and OS along with the make, model and any OC of your card. Then please list out the tasks and runtime so we can start to figure out how efficient these cards are.

I won't have my card for a few weeks so who already has a one and wants to go first?

It seems that its not compatible with ACEMD v2.

go to GPUGRID preferences and change it to:
Run only the selected applications
ACEMD: yes
ACEMD ver 2.0: no

Just installed GTX 480 with driver 197.41

Prerefences acemd2=off, because all jobs were cancelled.

All other jobs are not working also!

Collatz = OK
Milkyway = all jobs cancelled
Seti = very,very slow

GPUgrid - detached and installed again.

XP-pro - boincmanager 06.10.45

Any ideas?

Ok, well its been a few months since ppl have reported crashing with WU's and the 480. Mine is running most things fine (except some milky WU's??? but who cares about those, need to find a double precision ati card for that in the future).

BOINC says its using .09% of processor
no hyperthreading as i cant use boinc and watch a movie without it crapping out (lost frames, audio clicks and pops). Now I can and will make up for the 10-20% loss (although task specific and highly debatable in the first place) through never turning boinc off AND OC'ing at a cooler temp...

Is there any clue as to what is going wrong, first and important check, make sure your temps aren't too high, it can damage a card permament and render it worthless, I've experienced a few!!!

PSU, the high load on all(often 4x 12A-25A +12V), 12V Rails can in extreme
cases, cause instabillity. A rig using ~550 Watt, had a 650Watt PSU, the 100Watt
not used, wasn't enough to function properly, a 850 Watt, removed all the instabillity. In some cases, it's better to use a second PSU for f.i. 2 or more
GTX480's in one rig.
